Welcome to the club @McIlroyRory. Completing the grand slam at Augusta is something special. Your determination during this round, and this entire journey has shown through, and now you’re a part of history. Proud of you!
85 year-old Lee Trevino says he still hits balls most days, but never hits two shots in a row the same.
Often he’ll practice strange shots he knows he’ll never use.
Like this flop shot hybrid, which was among the more incredible shots I’ve ever seen.
You might find this interesting. 🤔
A friend of mine decided to try a short-shafted driver.
We talked about it a few times previously and he decided to give it a try. He has a GC Quad, so I asked him to do some testing.
HIS HANDICAP INDEX: 📊
5.0 to 8.0 (6.1 when he did the test)
APPROACH: 📔
After a warm-up, he hit 15-20 drives per day. In between each driver shot, he would hit a 50-60 yard wedge. He did 10 total sessions, alternating clubs each day. Same head in both clubs (each at the same setting). Same shaft in both clubs - one was at 45.5 inches the other 42.75 inches.
45.5 INCH DRIVER:
➡️Avg Total Distance: 248.4 yards
➡️Offline STDEV: 22.1 yards
➡️Percent of shots >30 yards offline: 17.5%
42.75 INCH DRIVER:
➡️Avg Total Distance: 245.2 yards
➡️Offline STDEV: 19.5 yards
➡️Percent of shots >30 yards offline: 12.4%
SUMMARY
You can see in the image below, the short shafted driver resulted in a tighter grouping on the face. He was able to keep the ball closer to the sweet spot.
Average distance with the shorter shaft decreased 3.2 yards.
Offline STDEV with the shorter driver decreased 2.6 yards. He saw an increase in accuracy, with a decrease in the number of "big misses".
WHAT CAN YOU LEARN FROM THIS?
If you have not tried a shorter shafted driver, you may want to put that on your list. Make sure you consult a fitter so they can get you squared away.
Distance is VERY important, but reducing big misses is also an important part of the puzzle. Be open minded to trying a different approach. You may find something that works really well for YOU.
A shorter shafted driver supplemented with speed training might be just the thing to take your driver to the next level.
🚨Many folks are suggesting that Greg Norman told LIV staffers today that planning for the 2024 and 2025 season is business as usual and it will continue . But there’s a few things to take note of:
1) It’s been reported by SI that it’s unlikely Norman is involved in the new partnership going forward - this would make sense
2) It’s been reported that Norman wasn’t informed of the deal until yesterday - so the PIF leaders have sidestepped Norman to plan the future of their golf investments
3) I doubt Monahan would agree to a framework agreement with Norman in the picture as he, along with Rory, Tiger and others have huge beef with Greg. Greg being gone was literally one of the conditions for beginning negotiations
4) Monahan has suggested that he doesn’t think LIV will exist in its current form beyond this year and Rory expressed today his issue with LIV - and re-affirmed it has to go
5) Norman’s job is to run LIV - so until he’s told otherwise - it’s of course, business as usual. He needs to keep the staff engaged and valued in the midst of the upcoming changes as the LIV season continues for the rest of the year
6) LIV is funded by the PIF - and it’s not up to Norman for things to continue as he wishes - if the PIF decides LIV is going to look different next year then that’ll be the way things go and that could mean a totally new direction - such as being the TOUR’s lead investor

⏱️🐢Brooks wants players stroked for slow play: “Technically in the rule book it says you have 40 seconds to hit your shot.. If you’re taking over, you're breaking the rules, right? "Honestly, I would start stroking guys. If you’re going to take that long, you have to get stroked”.
There’s been talk lately about some LIV players being considered for Team USA Ryder Cup selection. Meanwhile, Team Europe hasn’t mentioned a single LIV player on social media channels for a whole year now. How will they tell its story if they ignore the most iconic moments? Sergio, Poults, Westy etc are the core of Europe’s recent success.
The Ryder Cup is not European Tour v PGA Tour. If it were, Rory would be the captain of Team USA. It’s continental Europe v the USA and the best players should all be considered. It’s disrespectful to fans to treat it any different.

So around £470 for the new Stealth Driver. You can get quite a few putting lessons for that and I know which is more likely to help you shoot lower scores 😁😉⛳️
