@randomhouse My two favorite authors these days are Carmen Maria Machado and Mieko Kawakami, but I've read everything by them that I can get my hands on. I've been on the lookout for an intimate, unusual novel, perhaps with surreal and/or horror elements. Thanks!
@ZombiesRunGame When my hair was purple, my run was interrupted by a small child who leapt from her mother's arms to run and hug-tackle me, causing me to nearly trip over her. She just said, "I *love* your hair!" and ran away.
The mom was mortified, but it absolutely made my day.
"Overall, 'Black Star' is a brutal race. It’s fast-paced, high-stakes, and intimate in a way that a fistfight is intimate."
I wrote about "Black Star" by Eric A. Glover. It's a really fun read and I would love a Vol. 2!

I can't stop thinking about "The Empress of Salt and Fortune" by @NghiVoWriting. What a gorgeous novella.

I picked up "The Empress of Salt and Fortune" by Nghi Vo from @wcfbook and thought the cover was so pretty I had to make a pink tea to match. I'll be posting about the book on my blog tomorrow, so stay tuned! (I promise I haven't just judged it on its cover😉)
I wrote about "Composite Creatures" by @carolinehwrites on my blog. It's quite a unique book, and I'm glad I picked it up. Definitely a bit unsettling, but in a good way. Check out my post here:

@NaNoWordSprints Just getting warmed up, a sad 77 words. Her home life is pleasant and cozy, which makes things difficult when a seed of betrayal is planted.
