Here’s another painting of the birthday boy. We see him obliging fans when the @SFGiants came to Shea Stadium on May 31, 1964, based on the photography of the great Neil Leifer.
BOTD Brad Van Pelt. It's unfortunate that Van Pelt missed out on #NYGiants glory years as he was traded in 1984 for Tony Galbreath. But in the mid/late 70s, he was a dominant force at LB as shown in the Giants video yearbooks from 1975 & 1976
#OTD in 1901, George "Mule" Suttles was born in Edgewater, AL. One of the best sluggers of his era, he also consistently hit for a more-than-decent average. Beloved by fans, an imposing frame belied his gentile nature. Here's a color study of him with the Newark Eagles in 1939.
Bob Mueller was one of the finest directors in the history of the FBI, transforming the bureau after 9/11 and saving countless lives. But it was his relentless commitment to the rule of law and his unwavering belief in our bedrock values that made him one of the most respected public servants of our time. Michelle and I send our condolences to Bob’s family, and everyone who knew and admired him.
What a way to start!!!

People remember the outcome. I remember the belief, the preparation, and the bond we built long before we stepped on that ice.
That’s what Miracle: The Boys of ’80 captures so well.
The game was the result. The culture was the miracle.🇺🇸🥇🏒
