In my 20's, doctors told me I might not walk unassisted again in my life. Prepare for canes or wheelchairs. Get surgery or get used to it.
I didn't want to throw the towel in. I kept searching for answers to my crippling 6 different back issues (disk bulges, piriformis syndrome, ankylosing spondylitis to name a few). My 20's were a living hell I could not wake up from. I would spend 20 minutes crawling to the bathroom while in excruciating pain. Don't take your body for granted.
I hid my back pain because I was embarrassed explaining that no clinician could help me. I would pretend to stop and be on my phone instead of letting people see me limp while walking. I was ashamed hearing the same conversations, "But you're so young! How could this happen?"
I would find a solution no matter what. When you hit the rock bottom of black out pain from your sciatic nerve, you would do anything to crawl out of it. I remember hearing that "swimming is good for your back" and I would desperately go swimming 3 times a week in December in the outdoor pool at night hoping for relief. It didn’t help.
I eventually found relief through treatment (a GOOD chiro/acu) + changing my actions (posture, stretches, strengthening). I'm now 38 and in the best shape of my life. I hit weightlifting PRs these past 2 years (SBD 335, 280, 420.69) and finished my last cut.
When I finally started to get in shape, haters told me, "Just you wait until you get to my age... Just you wait until you have kids... Just you wait..." I'm still waiting. I have two kids and a busy life. True, I don't have enough time and recovery to become a stage ready bodybuilder. However, looking at how far I've come from the dark hell of crippling back pain, I feel like I’ve taken the gold medal at the Olympics.
No matter how dark it seems, there is always a light forward. Even if I were constrained to a wheelchair, I would do pull ups, rows, and swim. No matter the restrictions on my physical body, my mind will find a solution. It’s never too late to start. It’s never too late to take one step forward. My transformation was a series of tiny steps forward until one day I looked back and saw I ran a marathon.
Your mind will be your biggest stumbling block. Your mind is a gold medalist of mental gymnastics. Don’t let your mind play tricks on you and tell you that “It’s pointless. You cant do it”. What is your mind telling you? What does your mind think you can’t do?
Agreed because orthorexia is a thing.
Putting healthy things in your body is fantastic. Stressing over what you put in your body can create a self fulfilling prophecy/nocebo effect worse than the actual toxin itself.
Health obsession can create stress driven health fragility.
people aren’t annoyed because he doesn’t drink alcohol - that’s obviously everyone’s own decision and also alcohol is bad for you in many ways
people are annoyed because this “self-optimization” and “healthmaxxing” trend is going too far now and letting your life be dictated by smart watches and trackers and sleep scores etc is not healthy at all, just makes humans robots in a way
once the panic settles there needs to be a bigger conversation around sustainability and service dependency in streaming.
a lot of creators built major parts of their workflow around free or subsidized services without really asking how those services stay alive long term.

I’ve spent a lot of time digging into artificial lighting, and there’s one misconception that seems popular for whatever reason, especially in biohacking circles.
It's the idea that “excess” blue light is harmful.
Ignoring that "excess" is never defined, this framing is fundamentally way too simplistic and, frankly, unscientific.
During the day, blue light is not the enemy. It’s one of the main signals your brain uses to stay alert, focused, and synchronized with your circadian rhythm.
Plus, as we age, the lens of the eye gradually clouds and filters out more blue light. So the same lighting that works for a child is nowhere near enough for an older adult.
For example, a 45-year-old needs roughly 2x more blue light than a 10-year-old to get the same circadian effect, and an 80-year-old needs closer to 10x more (PMID: 18757473 | see image).
So avoiding blue light during the day is probably the opposite of what most people should be doing.
A simple way to estimate blue light exposure is color temperature. Higher color temperatures (think 5000–6500K, similar to midday sunlight, see second image) consistently improve alertness and cognitive performance.
6000K lighting improves concentration vs 4500K and 3000K (PMID: 26098084)
Ultra-bright 17,000K office lighting improves alertness, performance, mood, and vitality vs 2900K (PMID: 17217543)
Even preschoolers perform better under 5000K vs 3500K lighting (PMID: 30161180)
And brain imaging shows that while all visible light activates the visual cortex, blue light uniquely increases blood flow and oxygen delivery to the prefrontal cortex, which is the part of your brain responsible for focus and decision-making (PMID: 29181427).
Compared to warmer, amber lighting, blue light also boosts prefrontal cortex activity and cognitive performance (PMID: 27253770).
There’s even research where scientists built an artificial “skylight” that mimics the way sunlight scatters in the atmosphere (super cool, and very blue light heavy).
These people felt more connected to nature, had lower stress responses, higher parasympathetic activity, and even produced more melatonin later that night despite being exposed to bright, blue-enriched light during the day (PMID: 31462321).
Obviously, you want to avoid blue light at night if you want better sleep and circadian regulation, but during the day you should probably be seeking it out. Your brain runs better on it.
Editor's note: there's no empirical evidence suggesting that "dysfunctional hormones trap fat in storage".
In fact, those with obesity and insulin resistance often have leakage from their fat stores into circulation because insulin can't keep it locked away.
Maybe there is some wonky condition out there where this is genuinely the case, but that would be an overwhelmingly rare exception to the rule and unapplicable to most people.

Artificial Sweeteners (AS) is not the boogeyman many make it out to be. AS can be a very useful tool to reduce calories and successfully lose weight.
Should we all guzzle AS? Of course not, but for many, swapping sugary soda for an AS diet soda can make a big difference in cals
Artificial sweeteners aren’t poison.
They also do NOT destroy your gut microbiome
So why does this myth refuse to die?
Science keeps testing the claim...
Influencers keep repeating it because it gets clicks, attention, and they care about feelings, not data
Here’s what the latest study DATA actually shows
Remember: DATA>feelings

The key is finding the combination of reducing calories and adding exercise that works for your life.
There isn't a single solution that works for everyone, but what is important is to be a scientist on yourself and see which combinations work best for you.
Exercise still remains a useful complement for health, longevity, and weight loss.
Still, the most effective pathway for weight loss for most people will be calorie reduction.
A combination of the age old "diet and exercise" is still the best pathway.
The findings of this study indicate that physical activity directly adds to total energy expenditure, without evidence of constraint or compensation, in humans.
The way to make America healthy again is NOT complicated
Here is what would solve the problem in a short period of time... (very effective doses in parenthesis)
✅Eating less calories (~500 less/day)
✅Regular intense resistance training (60 min/wk)
✅Increasing daily activity (8000 steps/day)
✅Increase high quality protein (1.6g/kg/day)
✅Increase fiber intake (>20g/day)
✅Stop self medicating with drugs, alcohol, & addictive behaviors like gambling, etc
So why aren't these filling up the headlines & instead we are obsessed with seed oils & food dyes?
