@RoyalMileWhisky Great system. Lots of folks unhappy but it’s always the case if you have handful of bottles and thousands in queue. I hope you keep this slightly different ballot system. Unfortunately, I tried it and ’needed’ to buy Kilkerran 16 when I had decided not to buy whisky in a while 🙄
Homebound train after loong lunch and afterworks. Inspired by last night’s Cameronbridge decided to use my Whisky Fringe voucher towards this Thompson Bros North British grain. If I recall correctly this was quite a breakfast dram with mellow oak, vanilla and custard at easy abv.
This Saturday @fifewhiskyfest 2023 tickets go on sale so good time to crack open this year’s festival purchase by @jeadiewhisky and @Luvians. It’s actually my first grain open. Lovely sweet, rich dram. Needs a lot of water for my palate though. There is something in old grains…
Great weekend of whisky. Nice opportunity to sample whiskies, sad to see prices keep rocketing. Releasing ‘new’ and ‘limited’ bottles or just re-branding old with new price. Or - just new prices. Yet they keep selling. Valuation is v different when bottles not for drinking anymr.
Enjoyable and challenging cycling miniholiday week+ ago in Bike Glenlivet, Aviemore, The Burma Road, and Laggan Wolftrax. Really testing my skills and fitness. Need more of that, if not pushing as much but time on bike out and about.
Some of our Friday Islay treats. Octomores are always pleasure to taste - especially from someone else’s bottle 😬 PC10 has become our ”house peated whisky”. Warm-up for Whisky Fringe!
@pswhisky When did Bowmore last release something new you can drink? Seems odd. But must work for them financially. And clearly want to be the next Macallan.
@mentaldrams @whiskybroker Did you enjoy it? I got this for my big four in two years. I was quite sure I cannot afford that old whisky anymore - or even want to as whisky this age can be anything. But I will see, at least it is somewhat special. And pretty sure the last whisky I buy that matches my age! :)
Slightly different @Spirits_Embassy Distell tasting today turned out excellent. We started with Deanston Old Fashioned, also two superb value Black Bottle blends. Highly anticipated Bunnahabhain *checks notes* Abhainn Araig. However, my pick was Tobermory 17 Oloroso (all 17y in).
Whisky Fringe ticket acquired 💪🏼 Really looking forward to that, the best of whisky festivals in a beautiful setting. Its been too long. And almost as long to get 2020 refund from BPT 😅 Got it in Dec I think. Thanks @RoyalMileWhisky for new smooth ticket buying system.
I’ve got 8 of these at home, fairly fresh bottles, waiting for little aging to enjoy in Christmas times. Then I bump into a 2016 bottle in a random bottle shop on holiday in Crete. Not exactly a summer beer but I only have a hand luggage so.. 🤷🏼♂️
One of many @Spirits_Embassy tastings. Last week Kilchoman, now AnCnoc, more of my territory. I’ve tried AnCnoc in festivals, these are a bit sweeter than I recall but works for me. Fruity sweet distillery character. In absolute terms I’d prob pick 24 but considering price, 18.
@MaltMusings@TheWhiskyNovice@Spirits_Embassy Whisky Barrel I also remember doing that but no evidence right now. Luckily plenty of online shops selling exactly the same products for almost exactly the same price (except these..), easy for us to shop elsewhere. It still surprises and disappoints me Scottish shops do this.
@TheWhiskyNovice@Spirits_Embassy Wow. Didnt know they do that. Another shop in my black list then. I just bought their tasting subscription though. At least can order after-tasting bottles elsewhere then. I just hope Springbank wouldnt provide shops who do this with allocation anymore.
