@environmicrobio Ah so it’s not sulfate but sulfide also present in the samples? You may be able to precipitate out the sulfide as zinc sulfide before measuring the sulfite via Ellman’s or using ion chromatography. But then that can mess with the sample. Sigh. Tough situation.

@environmicrobio Ok. I am old. lol. I used Ellman’s reagent back in the day but sulfhydryl groups can cross react. But I think sulfate doesn’t? But maybe the sulfhydryl compounds (say from sulfate reduction) can be precipitated out first with Zinc if that doesn’t interfere with sulfite? 😁
