Got our first look at Livingston and it was impressive. Good frame from left side w/ 3 pitch mix. Easy mover down the mound. FB seems to be ticking up with M2C. Split was really good. Good command of the pitch and threw it with conviction. 📈📈

ACTION ALERT HB 1!
HB 1: On Friday, the House will be considering House Bill 1, legislation that combines changes to the school finance and accountability systems w/ a universal Education Savings Account (ESA) that would use taxpayer dollars to pay for private and home schools.
ACTION ALERT HB 100 Update
The Senate Committee on Education meets this morning (Monday, 5/22) at 8:30 a.m. to consider HB 100, the school finance bill, relating to the compensation of public school educators & the operation of public schools & the public school finance system.
The Texas House of Representatives is currently considering multiple voucher bills, also called Education Savings Accounts (ESAs), that will leave students behind and send our taxpayer dollars to unaccountable, non-transparent, inequitable voucher programs.
Texas Parent PAC urges Texas House Members to support the bipartisan-backed Herrero Amendment. Public money for public schools! Honor your oath to Texas Constitution #txed#txlege#VouchersAreVultures
UPDATE HB 1 and Amendment
The appropriations bill for public education funding is on the docket for Thursday, April 6, so now is the time to contact our legislators!
HB 1
Action requested: Significantly increase the amount of funding allocated for public education.
Action requested: Tell Senators to Vote "No" on SB 8 Voucher Bill to Be Heard on Senate Floor Thursday
The priority voucher bill, SB 8 (Creighton), is expected to be considered on the Senate floor Thursday, April 6.
Call them vouchers, education savings accounts, or anything else - all voucher programs divert public money away from public schools. Vouchers hurt our public schools. Public dollars must remain in public schools: https://t.co/tWCepzv6Kz #TxEd#vOUCHersHurt#TxLege
Inflationary costs have soared since the last time the basic allotment was set. One of our critical legislative priorities regarding school finance is to increase the basic allotment and add an inflationary index.

Current legislative proposals call for an increase of $50 to the basic allotment. That generates $7.3 million in CFISD. A 1% pay increase in CFISD requires $9 million. Please let your reps. know that an increase of $1000 to the basic allotment plus a rider for inflation is needed
Please reach out to your state rep re: proposed state budget. Budget proposal does not address the need to raise basic allotment/impact of inflation on costs since 2019, the under-funding of special education & need to increase teacher pay (recruitment/retention).
@DadePhelan
**MODIFY HB 11 and HB 100**
Both bills include a $50 increase in the Basic Allotment with a requirement that 50% of the increase be used for salaries for teachers, counselors, librarians, and nurses.
Where Ds are as rare as a Whooping Crane, the Idaho Republican Senate rejected a universal ESA voucher proposal last month. As one state senator said “It’s actually against my conservative Republican perspective to hand out this money with no accountability.” @Texans4E
"I think we can all agree there is nothing conservative about taking public dollars and then providing them to people with no accountability for how those dollars are spent or the outcomes associated with those dollars." https://t.co/8JdA1D9lDX
Vouchers will cost the state $1B/yr. If #txlege has that much extra $$$, why not better fund local public schools and teachers so they are not at the bottom of U.S. 🇺🇸? @DadePhelan @BradBuckleyDVM @CreightonForTX
