Excited to announce that I have joined the team at RPA Institute of Academic Surgery as the Director of Surgical Nursing Research.
Here’s to new collaborations and the future of innovative nursing-led projects!

@tompayne302 presenting on the use of biomarkers in understanding the nature of brain injury associated with delirium and providing a very palatable statistical session. Also on display- his artistic talents - with a sketch of his PhD supervisor @ProfRobSanders#declared2023
@JamesSteeleII Out of interest, what do you see as the benefit of using an MA of old studies as a prior for an MA of newer studies, rather than performing an MA of all studies? Are you trying to demonstrate an effect of publication date?
@JamesSteeleII Not exactly the same, but a couple of great Bayesian reanalyses of RCTs using meta-analytic priors are Goligher: 10.1001/jama.2018.14276 and Brophy: 10.1001/jamainternmed.2020.1647. Shouldn’t be too different to updating an MA
#Statistics thought of the day: Worrying about lack of fit of a statistical model is less productive than assessing (1) the impact of the assumptions and (2) whether a model making fewer assumptions actually predicts future observations better: https://t.co/bOVbmmFPWx
@camjpatrick I usually take Swanston St down to the Yarra and then take the Yarra trail across to Hawthorn. Slightly circuitous but going through Yarra bend is even more so!
Really excited about talking about our new paper showing disturbed feedback cortical connectivity maybe an important mechanism of delirium at the Declared meeting https://t.co/lxN6VtmCtY

Dexmedetomidine in Cardiac surgical Intraoperative Drug Evaluation (DECIDE) trial by Prof Robert Sanders is the latest CTN success story. Congrats Rob on being awarded a $4.1 M @nhmrc grant to run this trial, building on the exceptional track record of the CTN.
