New PhD Studentship available to work with @Thomas_Wilkes1 and me @sheffieldgeog to work on automated analysis of UV imagery using machine learning - details in the link below!

New blog post - a bit of fun with a card game designed for volcanology - "Voltivity" (Volcanic Activity cleverly combined...). A turn based card game where players compete to get the most points by creating eruptions. https://t.co/Yw90JmqFts
In this paper we look at gas bubbles and how they behave when travelling inside inclined conduits. We look at what effect small amounts of particles have on the behaviour of these bubbles. The goal to see what combining complexities could do for strombolian style eruptions.
New paper! This paper deals with crystals in inclined conduits, and analogue experiments for slug-driven volcanism, and is from Hannah Calleja and @tompering!

(1/5)🚨Alerta paper
"A new permanent, low-cost, low-power SO2 camera for continuous measurement of volcanic emissions"
Autores Ckelar: @FelipeVolcanes, Susana Layana, Mauricio Aguilera
Autor principal: @Thomas_Wilkes1
Overall, we hope that this paper and instrument development shows the potential for low-cost permanent installations of ultraviolet cameras in the future.
New open access paper out on the @sheffieldgeog ultraviolet camera for measuring volcanic sulphur dioxide (SO2) emissions, led by @Thomas_Wilkes1, this is the next step in the development of our low-cost system but for permanent usage.

I am giving a lecture for the @The_GA tomorrow on "Volcanoes: from inception to eruption" aimed at GCSE/A Level students, feel free to pass on to anyone who may be interested, sign up is here: https://t.co/4AHAD62hfE @sheffieldgeog @SheffSocScience #geography#geographyteacher
Our Level 1 @sheffieldgeog @SheffSocScience physical geography students head into the field this week! Was great to see students in person today for an outdoors equipment instruction section. #Geography#geographyteacher
