🧵 Here's a problem in the American evangelical world. @howertonjosh made some incredibly awful videos about how to milk donors for money. People across the spectrum objected. It was a problem for Josh for a few days.

Talarico: Here's what real men don't do. They don't lie and cheat their way through life. They don't sell their soul to the highest bidder. Real men serve others, weak men serve themselves. So I welcome this debate. I don't think Paxton or Cruz are in a position to tell anyone what a real man is.
HYP and I disagree on many things, but not this one: the Biblical hermeneutic which leads to egalitarianism is the same one that leads to LGBTQ+ affirmation. It’s actually the same one that leads to abolition of slavery and racial justice as well.
And that’s a really good thing, because Jesus came “to bring life and life abundantly” (John 10:10) to all people which includes full equality regardless of race, sex, gender, or sexual orientation.
No one wants to believe they’re on the wrong side of history. As corruption and dehumanization continue to come out of the White House, it’s tempting for folks who enabled this to choose narratives that alleviate a guilty conscience. But there’s freedom in facing the truth. It’s not too late to jump off the Trump train. @skyejethani 🎙️Holy Post 705
@megbasham@WilliamWolfe That Megan treats Wolfe as legitimate and not a wolf in sheep’s clothing reveals she doesn’t give a wit about “shepherds for sale” so long as they’re hawking for her MAGA identity politics. https://t.co/wc6Sx4xK8I
The man at the microphone spoke at a white supremacist convention and tweeted sly "Hail Hitler" memes; the one on the right did business with a Nazi pornographer and called for a Protestant Franco, and they're not barred from the SBC.
@megbasham Fundamentalists like Megan are so sad and they’re not even right about the Bible. It’s cultish propaganda not actual truth or scholarship. https://t.co/5Kide2MuBa
40 years ago, the only guy you’d hear this overtly racist talk from in the public square was David Duke. Now it’s normal right-wing podcaster talk, and “conservative” Christian denominations are adapting themselves to it, because their pastors are imbibing it.
@BrandiKruse Brandi still being in the can for MAGA is really telling that she’s not an objective journalist just advocating for sane policy. I agree with her on many state & local Seattle things but this one baffles me. We shouldn’t hate ppl but we should hate the vile MAGA stands for.
1/ Yes, it's disgusting that @howertonjosh couches workers to lure in large donors. His money lust isn't the worst part. The worst part is that he dangles answers and the right to ask questions. He's literally telling people "Put money in my hand before I answer questions."
This is unhinged. If a family member behaved this way, you'd worry about them. If a CEO behaved like this, the board would meet. He's living in an alternate reality and furious when a person won't indulge his fantasies.
