@xaqwg@SpottedGeck You definitely could have worked 2 thru N judges scoring with different rounding schemes into this week's puzzle! Keep the theme going for the Paralympics!
@emiliemitchades@xaqwg Interestingly, the foci of the 2 ellipses are on the circle. I wasn't able to get any insight on why that should be the case. It's certainly not the case for 1 ellipse (just a coincident circle), and it doesn't appear to be for 3.
#ThisWeeksFiddler For Making the Rounds, exploit the fact that the question probably isn't missing info.
1) No angle given, so turn blue squares vertical; now 1/2 length of empty sq, green sq at 45ยฐ. Blue side=โ12, empty=2โ12, green=โ24, green area=24.
@xaqwg#thisweeksfiddler $80 a year seems pretty steep. I suppose I'll keep reading whatever is free, but that's a lot of money to spend on distracting myself from work. I'd prefer an ad-supported model.
@drcatherineq@xaqwg@apharradine@LaurentLessard As @LaurentLessard said, it's a parabola, opening along the line y = x. The loom edges aren't asymptotes: the parabola touches and in fact is tangent to the edges at 0, 1 and 1, 0, so they can't be. Those tangent points are the ends of the latus rectum, though.
@Ask_Spectrum Cord. Cut. Fuck you, Spectrum, you knew this was coming and decided to give no notice until kickoff of the Gators opener. Fucking bullshit.
@northropgrumman I've loved the logo history since I first saw it, https://t.co/NpLz3q8GAC, but the 1982 Comptek logo ... isn't. Can we fix that? https://t.co/T2U8L2durd
@DaveMor87960178@ptrajeev@xaqwg I think you have to assume that she wouldn't favor an outcome, or else someone observing the game would catch on. If she does and you don't know it, then 1/3. But if she doesn't, then better than 1/3. Unless she knows you know, then worse than 1/3.
@xaqwg@AndrewCarrot From last week, the water border between MI and MN seems no more exceptional than the water border between, say, Illinois and Iowa. But then, they have at least a little land border on an island in the Mississippi. Hmmm ... #rabbithole
@mueth_paul@1a It also ignores the fact that the British recruited real, not metaphorical, slaves to fight for them, which presumably would have upset a slaveowner like Key.
