In response to those so unnecessarily worked up about Trump’s comment “ A whole civilization will die tonight, never to be brought back again…”

I will share my perspective, however unproductive it may be.

I believe in the statement you and others have wrongly interpreted, Trump was referring to the death of the civilization engendered by the Islamic Republic regime for the last approximately 50 years based on Shia Islamic principles, with ultimate authority held by an unelected Supreme Leader. It is a civilization ruled by a theocracy functioning under Velayat-eFaqih ( Guardianship of the Islamic Jurist), thus concentrating power in the hands  of clergy. It gave the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) massive economic and military control. 
He stated the hope that this cruel, inhumane, world threatening and evil civilization will never be “brought back again”.  

His threat was to accomplish that he would order the total destruction of Iran’s ability to function as a modern state through the destruction of vital national infrastructure, specifically saying, "every bridge in Iran will be decimated... every power plant in Iran will be out of business, burning, exploding, and never to be used again". This would not be any “war crime” because it would have been done in an effort to collapse and end the civilization I described above. It paradoxically would have been beneficial to the civilian population who would then have an opportunity to resurrect the Persian civilization and its deep cultural traditions and values. 

Because of the agreement to a cease fire the significantly destructive action was postponed.

However, I truly hope that after all is said and done, the outcome of the death of the evil civilization I have described,  never to be brought back again, will still become a reality.
