I'm reposting this not to vilify dogs but to ask dog owners (I'm one) to be sensitive, understanding and kind. Ground-nesting birds are in peril and this is one fairly easy and simple thing we can do to help them.
People who cling tightly to established norms, no matter how violent or existentially destructive, become very defensive when invited to discard such conventions, mainly because they view any deviation from their conformism as a criticism of themselves.

Peter May has a new book out which covers salmon farming in the Outer Hebrides, after researching the subject he had this to say:
“The research into what is known as ‘aquaculture’ has changed my life forever and I will never eat salmon again"

The Saturday victims secretly dumped ..all wasted lives 👺
“We cannot comprehend the waste and disregard shown for these animals. Discovering the location yesterday, where the remains of more than 150 dolphins were dumped, explains why the whalers waited until all activists were out of sight before driving their two trucks far from Skalafjord to conceal this horrific scene.
If anyone is seriously considering the argument that the Faroese community needs to eat dolphin meat to survive, these images should give them reason to reconsider.
The story of these dolphins is the story of a wealthy society where some members are trapped in a past when whaling meant survival. Today, whaling means wasting the planet's precious life. It means neglecting nature and the environment, even though all needs and more are met. It means clinging to outdated traditions and habits at the expense of wildlife. It means refusing to heed the world around you, because pride is taken in violence and cruelty toward animals.
The traits on display during this atrocity, and evident to us all when whalers call for a kill, are the very things driving the destruction of our planet and the species we share it with.”
How you can help:
- You can help us by following, because we do make calls to actions from time to time, where we NEED you.
- You can amplify our work by sharing it and talking to your network about it
- You can contact your local political representative and tell them that you want your party to engage in this on a national level or at the EU level, by collaborating with our coalition STG ( https://t.co/2Ul92l5uU2)
- You can go to your local stores and restaurants and ask them if they have Faroese fish, and if they do, you want them to remove them from the shelves until the killing stops.
- Keep in contact with us, if you have good local ideas that can strengthen the support for our work.
- You can volunteer and you can donate.
