BREAKING: A Seoul court on Aug. 31 sentenced Family Federation Dr. Hak Ja Han to two years in prison in the first-instance trial over alleged “church-state collusion” with the Yoon government.
Han’s defense has consistently denied every charge, arguing Yoon acted alone and that she neither approved nor directed the alleged payments.
The ruling is being viewed as part of a broader offensive by the current Lee administration against conservative religious groups.
The same day, a separate joint probe wrapped up without indicting 132 politicians alleged to have received church-linked funds, while sending Family Federation and Shincheonji leaders to trial.
Prosecutors had sought 13 years for Dr. Han. An appeal is likely.

Heartbroken by the devastating disaster in Nepal. I spent important years there and know many wonderful people across the country. Praying for every family affected, for those still searching for loved ones, and for the rescue teams working around the clock. Nepal, you are in our hearts.
To everyone else, stay tuned.
