@exfatloss@TuckerGoodrich A craftsman is not a process engineer
A craftsman is not even a machinist
Of course it will go badly. He probably crushed his hand in a press but is numb from the adrenaline—figuratively speaking
@nptacek@MikePFrank Feels like a couple things
- the job became a status symbol
- shareholder value above all
- to grow they diluted product and hiring standards
- consumer and org inertia means years of bad decisions go unnoticed, compounding under the surface
It’s sad
@TuckerGoodrich I thruhiked the pacific crest trail with a barefoot running gait, but slowed down to a medium hiking speed.
I swear that saved me from my usual shin splints and foot pain—and I went from needing 600-1,200 mg of ibuprofen per day on the AT to zero on the PCT.
So, yeah :)
@Devon_Eriksen_ I’m always partial to Chesteton’s take:
“Of a sane man there is only one safe definition. He is the man who can have tragedy in his heart and comedy in his head.”
That works if you are out to change the world or live a quiet life in the country.
@run_it_back_exe@exfatloss@JungianPeater Meh. Maybe. What you're doing works for you and I'm an advanced expert at being misunderstood, so we're likely talking past each other like two internet dufuses.
@run_it_back_exe@exfatloss@JungianPeater I’m not sure how to be more clear: I do not find myself eating to the point of physical fullness, I don’t want to keep eating after my meals, and I don’t wonder about it.
The problem you’re solving is not one I have experience with.
@exfatloss@GoldenAspen1492 “Whatever happened to protesting nothing in particular
Just protesting 'cause it's Saturday
And there's nothing else to do?”
@run_it_back_exe@exfatloss@JungianPeater You misunderstand; the way I eat now involves no strong urges, either on HCLF or keto. What I was telling you is that I have experienced "wanting" food so I know the feeling.
@run_it_back_exe@exfatloss@JungianPeater You mean like eating the same unseasoned rice and beef meal three times a day indefinitely?
That’s easy, but I’ve never related to people who crave variety or flavor. Food is fuel.
I think my point is being missed—neither @exfatloss nor I restrict calories and we have different reactions to both HCLF and keto.
Also, the diet I’m on doesn’t make me full the way I think you mean; I know the difference between full and sated.
(Aside: being full but still hungry is a terrible feeling. I hate it.)
@run_it_back_exe@JungianPeater@exfatloss That "of course" isn't universal--I eat rice and potatoes ad lib with lean beef and my weight is steady or down from when I was ad libbing heavy cream keto earlier this year.
It's a Heinlein quote:
Throughout history, poverty is the normal condition of man. Advances which permit this norm to be exceeded--here and there, now and then--are the work of an extremely small minority, frequently despised, often condemned, and almost always opposed by all right-thinking people. Whenever this tiny minority is kept from creating, or (as sometimes happens) is driven out of a society, the people then slip back into abject poverty.
This is known as "bad luck."
