The team I shared with my dad plus the voice of that team all my life plus my dad‘s favourite artist and song = tears, and we haven’t even started the season yet. #LeafsForever
one thing i would like to see in draft previews alongside the NHL player comparables is bust comparables. who is a guy who profiled just like this dude who did not work out
@Bonsie1951@BizNasty2point0 The voice of my entire @MapleLeafs fandom. The voice I’d fall asleep to as a child; the voice I now seek out online every game. The voice I shared with my dad. One last season - can’t wait for the journey.
The more the Leafs tinker due to injuries, the more I wonder if they at least try splitting Matthews, Nylander, and Marner onto three different lines. Something like…
Knies - Matthews - Jarnkrok
McMann - Tavares - Marner
Bertuzzi - Domi - Nylander

I agree with this, which is why I’d still keep the “core 4” and simply look to shrewdly add to it. Again, next two or three years, with cap space, I’d be looking at RFAs rather than draft picks to add players to this window of opportunity, if possible. #LeafsForever
Matthews is currently signed to a five year deal that started in 2019-2020. Marner's deal started at the same time.
The cap was $81.5M that season. It's probably going to be $83.5M in the last year of 34's deal.
The pandemic probably hurt the Leafs more than any other team.
It’s this kind of thinking + knowing the classic stories of Red Wings, Oilers, Capitals who needed big losses by the core before they won, that puts me in the keep the core 4 intact camp.
But maybe the @MapleLeafs are just the modern 80s Jets, in the wrong div @ wrong time.
Agreed. Also think teams with a mid-20s core and cap room should take advantage of RFAs more to compliment and extend their own window. Too bad @MapleLeafs don’t own any of their own 2023 picks to do that #LeafsForever . Could have been a way to add more value than UFAs.
Years of endless free tickets. Preposterous sponsorship deals. Constant firings and re-hirings.
Now, three wins from the Stanley Cup Final.
Here's the inside story of how the comically dysfunctional Florida Panthers finally found stability and success:
