No, I read his post. He actually is trying to force his system into scripture. He’s trying to force the words World, All, ect. to mean EVERYONE without exception. MANY times in scripture it doesn’t. It means all people without distinction, not all people without exception. Often times the apostle Paul does this to emphasize God’s salvific love extends beyond the Jews to the Gentiles—whole world. If you’re a Christian, the FINAL, DECISIVE, REASON you BELIEVED and your neighbor didn’t is God’s sovereign grace.

Cheryl, they both admitted in the clip that they do not believe the bible is true. They both understand exactly what scripture says about God’s sovereignty in salvation, but they don’t think it’s true because they don’t think the bible is true. The first step in becoming a Christian is to understand that God has spoken to us in His word. Also, we’re not to just stand around and wait for God to save us. True savings faith comes from hearing, and hearing from the Word of God. God saves His people mainly through the preaching and teaching of His word and through prayer.

We can’t separate the extent of the atonement from the INTENT of the atonement. What did Jesus intend to accomplish when he went to the cross? If Jesus atoned for every single sin of every single person, everyone will be in heaven. There would be no reason for anyone to be cast into hell. Unbelief is a sin, so rejecting Christ would not matter. Jesus died for His sheep. “I lay down my life for the sheep. They will hear my voice and follow me.”

You’re comparing a physical inability to a spiritual inability. That’s apples to oranges. Everyone has inherited a spiritual condition that has left them slaves to sin. This is why Jesus said no one could believe in him unless it is granted by His Father. I didn’t say it. Jesus did.

You’re comparing our spiritual inability to a physical inability. That’s apples to oranges. Every person has inherited a spiritual condition (that they’re responsible for) that has left them slaves to sin. Our only hope is that God will grant us repentance that leads to life. That’s why Jesus said no one could believe in him unless it’s granted by His Father. I didn’t said that, Jesus did.

I’m not shutting the kingdom of heaven to anyone. The offer of the gospel is for everyone. Whosoever will may (not can) come. But, what we have permission to do and what we have the ability to do are two different things. In the 6th chapter of John, Jesus explains to his disciples why the Jews were not believing in him. Jesus said “No one CAN come to me unless it is granted by my father”. But to everyone who it is granted WILL come. Coming to Jesus and believing in Jesus are used interchangeably in scripture. Just so you know, I haven’t always been a Calvinist. I had a hard time accepting that God doesn’t love everyone the same way. I was VERY humbled when I realized that God chose me when he didn’t choose others. That’s what makes God’s grace so amazing. Maybe someone could write a song about that. Oh wait. 🙂 Did you know John Newton, who wrote Amazing Grace, was a Calvinist?

@jpmdathew @_jonbowlin Jesus is being sarcastic because as a Pharisee and ruler of the Jews he should have understood but didn’t. Nicodemus had all this head knowledge, yet he could not grasp what Jesus was saying. This is why he needed to be born again.

Nicodemus isn’t a Christian yet in this passage, which is why Jesus tells him he needs to be born again. Nicodemus can’t even understand what Jesus is saying in his current spiritual condition. I know it can be difficult to see evil in the world and ask why would a loving God allow that. But either God is sovereign or He his not.

Your belief in this contradicts scripture. If you read the first two chapters of Ephesians Paul makes this very clear. Also, Jesus explains to Nicodemus that he has to be born again BEFORE he can understand HIS kingdom, much less enter it and be apart of it. That new birth we must experience to become a Christian is like the wind. We are not in control of it. God is. Sinners can no more make a decision to accept Christ prior to God working that miracle in their heart, than they can control the wind.
