@WinnerDefault@oathgate1@midgardeners27 The general theme is Cloud's Journey. In his Journey he suffered loss, but also found hope that started early in the game.
Cloud remembered his mother's wish after meeting Aerith. Her wish to meet someone like Aerith before her death. The healing happens early in the game
@WinnerDefault@oathgate1@midgardeners27 Yes, I've called out your player experience that I suspect is confusing you or you're in denial about.
Particularly about Aerith and how you've made up your own story about Cloud's mental breakdown during the northern crater part to support the theme of loss and acceptance.
@WinnerDefault@oathgate1@midgardeners27 Last comment, are you aware that when people use their player experience to modify the story, they often omit crucial points that contradict their experience?
You've said FF7 is not about hope, but in these final scenes in the original, it's clearly represented.
@WinnerDefault@oathgate1@midgardeners27 I hope you will be completely honest with yourself here.
Are you inserting your own player experience to force a narrative?
You've already said the 'mourning' element is ineffective in FF7, but you also say FF7 is about the loss of Aerith.
@WinnerDefault@oathgate1@midgardeners27 If you're talking about when he was in a coma, the doctor in mideel explained it as mako poisoning like the sephiroth clones. Is that what you mean by 'spiraling depression?'
Anyways, Rebirth does a good job with why Cloud didn't seem too depressed prior to going north.
@WinnerDefault@oathgate1@midgardeners27 I'm not sure what you mean by 'spiraling depression.' Before the capital he was already doubting himself. After the capital, he wanted more revenge, went snowboarding and had an identity crisis. Then they were on a high-stakes race to stop meteor.
@WinnerDefault@oathgate1@midgardeners27 However, the actual story of mourning and accepting loss in FF7 is primarily related to Cloud's mother
Cloud was blamed, felt ashamed, wanted acceptance, then revenge for her death. But he remembered her wish, and his journey with Aerith was to heal and transform hatred to hope.
@WinnerDefault@oathgate1@midgardeners27 You're thinking about the player experience, not the characters or story. I believe this is the fundamental confusion or denial.
In the OG FF7, there was little time for mourning and generally it became Cloud & friends carrying Aerith's will to protect the planet.
@Griff_Navus Look, what people care about is story, not your nostalgic feelings.
The story shows Aerith's death and we will likely get flashbacks in the 3rd game. However there are other worlds. This is not a contradiction to the story.
It's an expanded story, so be honest with yourself
@EmperorBigD How does saying to wait or respect Toriyama's family wishes somehow mean I know what they're thinking?
Waiting might mean there might be plans moving forward. Or if there isn't, then respect that. Whatever it is.
Toyotaro's message appears to be like a plea to continue.
@xlance_2009@sgwr1 ^that account above was just created a few months ago with thousands of followers.
it's botted and looks like they engage in toxic fnadom to make aerith fans appear a certain way.
be careful nojima-san!
Saw the edit. I mean you can do the same edit with Ray and Cuffem. Cuffem accused Kai of things we can't even say. Yet Ray cozy up to him didn't he?
Was he trying to bridge things? But for Tota it's just a job, streaming with Neon. And tota was insulting to his face too
@Rufrj6 Further, Vegeta did not say he was meditating in the movie. He was deeply thinking about how Jiren used his powers.
This is a parallel to Gohan deeply thinking about special ants powering up.
Goku and Piccolo had the same criticism too. Deeply thinking or studying is training.
@Rufrj6 I think the manga is completely by Toyotarou.
In the movie, Broly was being loud and unleashing his energy, so it would be strange for Vegeta to meditate there. Goku thought Vegeta was just watching them and misunderstood. I believe that is Toriyama's intent with the scene.
