Targeted to cuts to medical and dental academics are fundamentally at odds with the government’s stated objectives to prioritise life sciences, invest in research and innovation to drive economic growth, and improve patient outcomes. @TheBMA@TheBDA

The @ukmedschools clinical academic survey shows the UK has lost 1/4 of early-career doctors working as medical academics in just one year.
Medical academic staff committee co-chairs @DocStrain and @gibb_jonathan say this sharp fall will have a knock-on effect on public health and economic growth:

@bloody_scandal@ShaunLintern Your argument falls flat when you’re making wild assumptions about my knowledge. I have two degrees. One is a BSc and the other is my MBChB. I am however not a haematologist. The textbook you speak of, does not make you, nor I, qualified to treat the disorders you speak of
@bloody_scandal@ShaunLintern There’s so much rubbish to critique and you’re obviously so far down that particular rabbit hole, it’s not my job to save you from conspiracies.
@bloody_scandal@ShaunLintern Well no, it’s not that always that simple. Until you’ve been in the delivery room resuscitating a baby, I wouldn’t expect you to understand.
@bloody_scandal@ShaunLintern As i said, i don’t disagree that delayed cord clamping is good for some babies, not all. You can’t apply a blanket approach to DCC
@bloody_scandal@ShaunLintern Oh dear, that escalated down the conspiracy route very quickly. I have no disagreement that delayed cord clamping leads to better outcomes (in certain situations, delayed clamping is not clinically appropriate)
@bloody_scandal@ShaunLintern Medicine is a wonderful profession, I wouldn’t expect an outsider to understand though! I don’t expect you to understand anything about medicine which is completely fine. Delayed cord clamping is wonderful and advocated for (in the correct clinical context).
@bloody_scandal@ShaunLintern I’m a paediatric doctor. I don’t have any experience in ‘preparing a mother for pregnancy’. You would need to be speak to an obstetrician about that. Are you an obstetrician?
@bloody_scandal@ShaunLintern Sorry to hear that you’re so misinformed on the matter. Premature babies will reveal themselves whether or not you give the mum a multivitamin or not.
