Hello82 BETRAYS THE FANDOM THAT HELPED THEM GROW
As day 2 of the 82WORLD: LA organized by @hello82PRESENTS underway, the day dedicated for ATEEZ and ATINY is undergoing exploitive scrutiny with lots of uproar after the ATINY who voiced about the mistreatment of the organizer and their staff yesterday was given a refund and immediately kicked out for calling out deceptive practices involving ADA attendees.
ATINYs, the fandom that helped put Hello82 on the map is disgusted by the treatment those attendees are receiving, despite the event motto being coined ‘A Festival Built For Fans’
The fan under the username kzandpoods on Instagram posted an image showing a shoddy viewing zone for ADA that both not even raised up and is far obstructed for the accessibility fans can even view being far away from barricades.
According to sd_and_anime via Threads, likely the same person, Sang H Cho, the former CSO of CJ ENM who helped formulate KCON, now COO of Hello82 (Kai Media) mocked the ADA fans, laughing and removed them, saying the ADA accommodations were fine and insultingly told them they can sue him.
According to Title III of the Americans with Disabilities act:
Under Title III, a private festival organizer is legally required to ensure "full and equal enjoyment" of the event through the following specific operational mandates:
•Temporary Flooring: Installing stable ground covers or plastic interlocking decking over sand, deep mud, or thick grass so wheelchairs can navigate. [1]
•Compliant Service Counters: Ensuring bars, merchandise booths, and food truck counters have a section that is a maximum of 36 inches high and 36 inches long so a seated individual can interact with staff. [1]
•Cable Protection: Covering heavy power lines and sound snake cables crossing pedestrian paths with ADA-compliant, heavy-duty ramped cord protectors. [1]
• California also have strict rules regarding ADA recipients:
• Shoving attendees with disabilities
way in the back behind a barrier on a grass floor is a textbook violation of Title III of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). [1, 2]
• Festival organizers cannot treat accessibility as an afterthought or isolate disabled guests in a "ghettoized" or sub-standard section. If a festival operates this way, they are failing several explicit legal standards established by the Department of Justice (DOJ):
It is without a doubt Hello82 has lost respect from the fandom that made them what they are today. What happens now is the victims have ground evidence to pursue legal action against Hello82 and Kai Media for several violations.
