While Nigerians are urged to endure economic hardship "like labor pains," some governors are splurging billions on new government houses, @TheAfricaReport reveals » https://t.co/9qehFrvkVE
@BudgITng warns that "instead of funding schools, clinics, or agriculture, leaders prioritize buildings they barely use."
@cislacnigeria adds: "There is more money, little accountability, and no priority."
Such alleged lack of fiscal responsibility fuels inequality and erodes public trust.

@PeterObi True and verified. If you were in Anambra then you'd remember the 406 Peugeot days for cabinet members. This man campaigned on facts but some people would rather choose to see red and call it white for biased reasons best known to them.
The narrative that tech is an easier way out of poverty is laughable. Many thought the same of medicine, law and accountancy decades ago. Solid professions but they require hard work and dedication to succeed. Tech isn't a palliative.
The reason I love this thread so much is that I was stuck in the same Nigerian mindset until I had the opportunity to live elsewhere and realized that true wealth is about living in a functional community and not individual accomplishment in a dysfunctional place. That is what the “I pass my neighbor” or “pepper dem” mentality is about.
Living in a community with high standards lifts you and improves your thinking about life in general.
What we think is religiosity in Nigeria is a coping mechanism when there is so much uncertainty. Living in a place with a degree of certainty makes you focus more on your abilities and less on probabilities or even improbabilities. You improve your capabilities.
I had to leave eventually when I realized that I was much more functional elsewhere without needing to amass wealth first.
Being functional helped us build better and create wealth faster. This is why developed countries are far ahead and the gap continues to widen.
@UseLemfi Hi @UseLemfi please help take a look at the DM I sent. Would appreciate it if you could help escalate and resolve the pending transaction. Thanks!

Yesterday, I was at Nigeria House in New York with my family to get our passports.
If I write about my experience, it will go viral. How they talked us down, treated us like we don’t matter, the inconsistencies in their processes, late arrivals of employees, lack of empathy and I was moved to tears.
Let it be known that when diasporans try to stay patriotic to our country Nigeria, the systems kept making it difficult for us. We shouldn’t have to cry or plan to bribe or know that the system will not work. Why? No, I didn’t call anyone I knew to help me. I wanted to experience this like I didn’t know anyone and I am still in disbelief.
Yes I want to write nice things about my country but when things aren’t working, it is also our responsibility to say it. I started asking myself why I wanted to renew this passport and why I wanted it for my child. That’s how much they humiliated us. Someone needs to look into the structures and systems running in our Nigeria embassies around the world, it needs to be looked at.
Before leaving, I told them if I am pushed I will make sure to bring this to twitter and ensure the government knows what that are doing.
