La politique s'est immiscée au cœur du jeu, alors que la FIFA dit vouloir le mettre au-dessus de tout : visiblement, C'EST JUSQU'À UN CERTAIN POINT.

Une Coupe du monde qui aura aussi vu tous ses matches se disputer en quatre quart-temps et sa finale connaître une mi-temps de près de 30 minutes...

LA CRISE A DEUX NOMS : L'ARGENT ET LE POUVOIR. Il y a aujourd'hui UNE CRISE DE CONFIANCE entre de nombreux acteurs de ce sport et la FIFA.

This is the first time that the reigning European and South American champions are set to face each other at a FIFA World Cup Final.

In my view this is one of, if not THE goal of the World Cup.

Just 5 minutes earlier he gave up on the opportunity to take a penalty which had he stored would have made him England’s greatest World Cup goal scorer. He sacrificed that opportunity, in order for his teammate Bukayo Saka to score a hat trick, which he did.

He then went on to deliver a masterclass in sublime ball control culminating in this brilliant goal to make it 6 - 4 to England against France.

Sometimes the good guys DO win. Jude Bellingham is an outstanding human being as well as a talent of a generation. I salute him.

“They’re frightening. That’s the first word that comes to mind. As a coach, you spend days analysing them, studying their movements and building a plan to stop them. Then the match starts and you realise your plan only solves one problem while creating another.

If you focus everything on Mbappé, Dembélé suddenly has space to attack. If you shift your defenders towards Dembélé, Olise finds pockets of space where he can hurt you with his creativity. The moment you think you’ve closed one door, another one opens. That’s what makes this France attack so dangerous.

You follow one, the other makes you pay. You double up on Mbappé because you know what he’s capable of, and before you know it, Dembélé is running behind your defence. Then Olise arrives between the lines with the vision to pick the perfect pass. They force defenders into impossible decisions.

The biggest problem isn’t just their individual quality—it’s how well they understand each other. They don’t stand still waiting for the ball. They keep rotating, switching positions and dragging defenders out of shape. As a coach, you keep shouting instructions from the touchline, but they move so quickly that your players are constantly reacting instead of controlling the game.

People will ask what the secret is to defending against them. The truth is, I don’t think there is one. You can reduce the danger, you can limit their opportunities, but stopping all three for ninety minutes is almost impossible. That’s why France are one of the favourites to win this World Cup. When you have attackers of that level working together, every attack feels like it could end in a goal.

We tried everything—different defensive shapes, pressing at certain moments, sitting deeper at others—but against players with this much pace, intelligence and technical quality, one mistake is enough. That’s the level they operate at. They don’t need five chances. They only need one.”
