Ukrainian tennis player Oleksandra Oliynykova beat a Russian opponent at Roland Garros for the first time in her career, then said the quiet part out loud.

“Many Russian athletes actively participate in propaganda, play in Gazprom-linked tournaments, and openly support Putin,” she said after the match.

She also said the WTA pressured her for months over public comments about Russian players and the war, demanding she stop naming certain athletes and threatening fines or even disqualification.

So a Ukrainian player speaks about propaganda and aggression, and suddenly the problem is her tone.

That tells you plenty about the double standard.

@RalphMcLeanShow By far my favourite Van album. Love the use of Jazz musicians on this. Went down a bit of a rabbit hole and didn't realise Moondance was also originally recorded with jazz musicians too and it was released for RSD in 2014. Ordered that now!

@MickPuck Astral Weeks is such a phenomenal album Mike. It brings back memories of my childhood in Ireland which considering I didn’t hear it until I was a teenager living in England and it was made by American jazz musicians and a lad from East Belfast highlights the power of music. ❤️

As a Norwegian, here is my answer:

In Norway, we have permanent employment guaranteed by law, collective wage agreements, and strong unions.

In the US, you can lose your job overnight, without any reason.

In Norway, you can be sick without being financially punished.

In the US, getting sick can mean losing both your pay and your job.

In Norway, we have the right to paid holiday, leave, and a secure pension.

And healthcare and education are free.

In the US, much of this is up to your boss—if you are lucky.

And this is not a coincidence.

It is the result of ordinary people standing together, organising, and fighting for these rights.

So no thanks, I am not moving to get worse rights.

I will stay and defend the working life we have built here.
