While there is a right to seek refuge when life is threatened, there is also the right not to have to migrate: the right to remain in one’s own home without hunger, war, persecution, violence, the land becoming uninhabitable, corruption stealing the bread from the poor, or weapons destroying the future of children. #ApostolicJourney

The modern world:
"A man arrived at a location via Waymo, robbed a yoga studio, then made his escape in the same car. Police have no leads on the perpetrator's identity, despite the robotaxi's numerous cameras.
The heist took place on a January evening, and the thief got away with an armful of men's shorts in a matter of minutes. Waymo's robotaxis are equipped with 29 cameras, providing a complete view in and around the vehicle.
Police did not file a search warrant for this information until four months after the robbery took place. During that time, Waymo had already erased the interior footage. Exterior video was available, but only with faces blurred out — a step Waymo takes for privacy reasons — further preventing police from identifying the suspect."

"software in terms of iterative development and releases due to distribution by the internet."
Excellent insight.
Many devs are unable to grasp systems that are not web applications - i.e. installed in devices, stores, etc. For those, iterative development can be more costly.
PUTTING THE CAPACITY OF GEOSTRATEGIC PREDICTION IN CONTEMPORARY CONTEXT
RE: --"Sal Goodarzi's @tidalmacro analysis claims China faces an operational oil reserve limit of roughly 262 days due to maritime disruptions and mandatory refining/re-export of crude to sustain Russia and Iran under sanctions. ... where damaged downstream refining capacity in Russia and Iran forces China to burn 5-8% of imported crude energy content domestically while shipping finished fuels back, accelerating reserve drawdown."--
@DRolandAnderson; @tidalmacro; @LudwigNverMises et al;
I managed to get access to the post by @tidalmacro.
First, as an aside, when talking-heads, and many of whom I have previously respected, claim the current administration doesn't know what they're doing, either strategically, tactically, or in negotiation and policy, I am rather stupified by the obviousness of it all, compared to the extraordinary ignorance and naivety of the commentariat.
Now to the substance of this thread:
1. Tidal Macro (@tidalmacro) is a competent to strong BTC relate, liquidity, energy analyst.
2. Tidal Macro (’@tidalmacro) is not primarily a geopolitical strategist or forecaster in the full sense.
So respect where respect is due.
Yet, I believe his estimation in this matter is instructive (educates the public) but over-predictive. Which is the same criticism I would levy against even someone like @PeterZeihan or @George_Friedman who I respect deeply, followed by a host of others who I do not - for slightly different reasons.
Like most analysts of economic data during the Pax Americana, all are victims of the same causes ("historicism"), which does not account for the increase in information flow over the past twenty years has limited the determinism of historical means of economic and strategic prediction because it has empowered state actors, financial actors, industrial and commercial actors, to act early rather than be caught in the traditional deterministic flow of events. In other words, it is far harder for momentum to produce previously deterministic outcomes.
Or said more simply and concretely, world actors can more completely resist becoming victims of momentum producing deterministic outcomes by early actions, and can have greater political confidence in adapting to circumstances - holding out longer with greater confidence at lower risk.
By analogy think of production in terms of just in time manufacturing due to the standardization of shipping, and software in terms of iterative development and releases due to distribution by the internet.
The same is true of political decisions - we are not such prisoners of the time frame and information deficit of the past.
This evolution of informational accessibility, combined with their increasing capacity to undermine the Pax Americana, when combined with american exhaustion with remaining domestication of empires into federations of nation states, is what is driving the three remaining authoritarian agrarian (territorial) empires of Russia, China and Iran, to take risks they may not have in the relatively recent past.
And what is driving the USA under the present administration to attempt a division of responsibility by the circumpolar civilizations plus india (china, russia, india, Europe, and the Anglosphere) because of the extraordinary costs of reversing Pax Americana's generation of worldwide prosperity it would impose upon all if fractured.
The civilized world does not want to end pax americana so much as have a voice in it.
Cheers
Curt Doolittle
One argument for why traitor politicians cater to invaders but not their own citizens, or why traitor cops do two tier policing, is b/c the invaders will riot. Now we'll see if that's the real difference, the real reason, or if the traitors just have hateful & villainous hearts.
Belfast won’t take this.. many groups now are asking for us men to get ready to stand and I’m ready. We didn’t fight all these years for Africa to overrun my nation.
Northern Ireland aren’t soft… and they are going to find that out. I promise you that. We have just got peace and a decade later this is the outcome…..
You rats @sinnfeinireland
Establishing digital borders may be as important to securing you nation as the physical borders.
Only permit domestic access to data centers created and supported with domestic taxes.
You’ll notice there is no look-back celebration or remembrance of this or virtually any of the other great moral victories from that era. It’s all been memory holed, a will-o'-the-wisp dimming out in the far distance.
Dozens of public health and disease experts have signed an open letter in support of the nationwide anti-racism protests.
"White supremacy is a lethal public health issue that predates and contributes to COVID-19," they wrote.

It's insane how little there has been on say, the Revolution. Heck, we've never even had a major Washington biopic. We've never had an Andrew Jackson biopic - that man's life was made for movies! Ditto Roosevelt; just adopt Morris' trilogy and turn it into a film trilogy.
This was sent to me...

This is suspicious as heck. Apparently a remote position exists IF and only IF you require sponsorship.
Check out this job posting. It only continues for sponshorship applicants or non authorized apolicants who are not local.
Click first check box ("I am authorized to work in the US") and try both values of "Yes" and "No" for the question "Are you comfortable commuting to this job's location in Gallatin, Tennessee?" It will not proceed.
Do the same thing for the other two checkboxes - the one that requires sponsorship and the one stating you are not authorized to work in the US. It will only proceed if you choose "no" for commuting.
