We're back!!
We've taken a brief hiatus after our inaugural Toolbox Sessions conference and we're excited about some upcoming projects!
Much more soon!
P.S. What music-making activities have you been up to this summer? #newmusic#composer#contemporarymusic
We want to help you write with the confidence that your music will be playable!
P.S. Join our Discord community and get connected with other composers and collaborative performers so you can dig deeper. Use link https://t.co/0Gtmuf7B3a to join.

Idiomatic. Musicians tend to throw this word around when talking about music. “This piece is idiomatic.” “This composer’s writing isn’t very idiomatic.”
What the heck do we mean by that?
[1/6]
While there is a time and place to challenge the norm, you always need to understand what you are asking of the performer.
Our goal at Toolbox Sessions is to connect you with collaborative musicians who can help answer these questions for you!
[5/6]
Plus, the community is still small, so you can actually meet new colleagues. We can't wait to see you there!

Are you looking for a supportive community of composers and collaborators?
Maybe you've been annoyed by the nitpicking in the large Facebook groups (you know which ones!). Or, you just want to meet some more fellow music creators.
[1/3]
You're invited to join our exclusive community on Discord! In this group, you can:
- meet experienced instrumentalists
- share your music
- brainstorm ideas

Do you have questions about writing for the instruments you don't play? You are invited to join our exclusive Discord server! This FREE community is here to give you the support you need to network and make music.

Did you attend the Toolbox Sessions virtual conference this past May?
If so, what were some of your "takeaways"? Who was your favorite presenter? Tell us about it!

Think back to your favorite musical collaboration.
(Any type of collaboration, there's no rules here!)
What made it special? Was it the music, the people, the environment? All of the above? Something else entirely?
We'd love to hear your story! Tell us in the comments! #newmusic

When discussing idiomatic writing and playability, we all tend to focus on the actual notes.
"Does this note work?"
"How will it sound?"
"What is the timbre of this register?"
"Is this extended technique doable?"
