@jeffrey_way It's an interesting dynamic - the thing that has probably robbed Laracasts of significant revenue is also the very thing that's also significantly reduced costs.
@jeffrey_way The depression is that anyone else can also build anything they want. So the thing you're excited to build naturally has less value to anyone else. The depression is in realising - it's not as exciting as you first thought. It's like a short circuit a buzz-kill.
@taylorotwell Strange irony at play here for devs. Laravel is so tuned to ship fast, fewer devs are required. Yet, devs love using it because it's so good. We love the thing that's making us dispensable? Can you make Laravel a little harder to use going forward? ๐
@Lord_Sugar Who watches The Apprentice for the sights?! Misplaced money. Focus on getting credible candidates. Spend that extra on You're Fired. Revert it to how it used to be in the early days, instead of the wall-to-wall clown show it has been made into!
@Lord_Sugar Yeah, except, if you have useless players all games will be rubbish. The "players" are beyond a joke now. And the You're Fired aftershow was half of the Apprentice's entertainment value! Scrapped. The BBC have cheaped out on some podcast format, which isn't even close!
@levelsio Huge shame IMO. AI has killed much of the discourse that used to surround software engineering problems. No longer the collaborative route of exploration and discovery. A meeting of minds. It's now just pulling a lever. Kinda joyless.
@jeffrey_way Yeah I think it's a valid concern. When the setup is super fancy, I immediately feel more guarded - "what are they trying to sell me". Fine with Laracasts though, as it's already so well known. But as a newcomer to something...
@jeffrey_way Pay. At least in the UK, PHP salaries in general are just not attractive anymore (or fair for the experience demanded). In terms of job market, it feels like a sinking ship. The opposite of an exciting prospect. And JS can be applied over the whole stack, incl mobile app dev.
@AdversAerialOne Uh, yeah. of course, I'm a liar - because it doesn't fit with your ill informed beliefs. I did suspect a rational conversation might be a stretch for you. I'll leave you to cosy back up with your conspiracy theories. Bye.
@AdversAerialOne Sorry for the extremely late reply. Err, no, that's not a factor for me. Because I also know it did kill many people, pre vaccine. I personally know of someone that lost BOTH parents within 5 weeks of one another, sadly they didn't get the vaccine.
@simonw A good comparison in that, a table saw reduced the need for carpenters. A bad comparison in that, a table saw won't build your whole damn house in a second! Then completely rebuild it because you fancy a slightly different style! Oh, and it only costs $20 instead of $400k.
