On Flydubai Flight FZ1073, the first officer stabbed Captain Smit Machchhar and forced the Boeing 737 MAX into a steep plunge.

2. The captain's actions saved the flight
Despite severe stab wounds, Machchhar fought back and hit the door release switch. Passengers and off-duty crew rushed the cockpit, pinned the attacker, and safely diverted to Tabuk, Saudi Arabia.

3. The bathroom detail was conflated
Reporting from The Guardian and The Washington Post documents the actual lavatory connection: a mother waiting with her child near the forward bathroom heard violent screams inside the cockpit and alerted passengers.

There is no official record of Captain Machchhar suspecting his co-pilot beforehand or using an emergency urinary bag.

🚨 Smith Machhahar is a FlyDubai pilot of Indian origin with more than 13 years of experience in civil aviation. He has logged over 9,750 flight hours on Boeing 737 aircraft. Smith was seriously injured during a sudden attack by his colleague, but despite his injuries, he managed to stop him from crashing the plane and helped prevent a possible disaster.

He is a true hero. Despite being seriously injured, he showed incredible courage and did everything he could to prevent a tragedy. May God protect him, give him strength, and grant him a full recovery.

After much confusion, it turns out a Ukrainian and a Russian pilot were on board the FlyDubai plane.

Both took control of the plane and landed it after the second pilot attacked the captain.

Both are pilots who were flying as regular passengers in civilian clothes. After the incident, they replaced the crew in the cockpit and landed the plane.

Russians and Ukrainians work together… a much better end to this story!
