Mohammed Ismail Sherif, known globally as Black Sherif, is a cultural phenomenon hailing from Konongo Zongo in the Ashanti region of Ghana who entered the game as a young boy lost, but music found him, ultimately elevating him to represent Ghana on the continent and far beyond. He initially broke ground in the underground scene after dropping his debut track โCry For Me,โ a song that was heavily banging in his school and immediate community, before capturing national attention with his single โMoney,โ which became so massive it earned a high-profile remix featuring AMG Armani and Tulenkey. Knowing exactly what he was born for, Blacko didn't stop there; he continued pushing introspective gems like โAnkonamโ and his collaboration โJoyโ with DJay, setting the stage for a paradigm shift when โFirst Sermonโ shook the entire country, followed immediately by โSecond Sermon,โ which blew across international borders and made the phrase "KWEKU FRIMPONG di asem ba y3 ampa" an absolute cultural staple. Cementing himself as the definitive face of Ghana music, his vulnerable debut album The Villain I Never Was (TVINW) achieved incredible global success and led to him being crowned Artiste of the Year at the 2023 TGMA. He kept his foot firmly on the gas with his sophomore project, IRON BOY, an album that went absolutely crazy by winning Album of the Year at the just-ended Telecel Ghana Music Awards and accumulating a monumental total of over 420 million global streams across all digital platforms. Today, Black Sherif has fully evolved into the undeniable voice of the youth, with kids in the streets singing his deep, hustle-driven lyrics word-for-word, proving that the prophecy of his greatness has fully unfolded. Thank you, Black Sherif, for making Ghana proud. ๐๐ฆ
