🚨 IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: Here is your friendly, summertime reminder that even with the REAL ID app, law enforcement still needs a physical copy of your state ID. Keep it on you — it’s the fastest way to keep interactions smooth and stress-free!
🚨Fake traffic citations, jury duty scams, bogus arrest warrants & bail bond schemes are on the rise. If you get a suspicious text, don't reply or click on a link. If you get a phone call, don’t rely on caller ID; hang up. Call the court, law enforcement or gov't agency directly.
The majority opinion of Kentucky justices ruled government business conducted on private devices are not public records, which critics say could “eviscerate” open records law. https://t.co/qpjn1TomMe

As promised, I’d like to provide an update on driver’s licenses. It’s not the news you want to hear, and it’s not the news I want to share. But it’s not all bad news.
None of the driver’s license bills filed in the House have moved. Although the Senate passed SB 7, it has not advanced in the House.
The rationale given is that wait times have dropped to 10 minutes for appointments and 12 minutes for walk-ins. The legislature also appropriated an additional $37 million to open three new regional offices.
The Transportation Cabinet has hired 125 new employees and implemented a line-management check-in system.
The lack of movement on these bills also stems from the belief that the bottleneck was temporary and that the regional office model is now working since the REAL ID deadline has elapsed.
People can now get appointments much more quickly than they could in April of last year. Across 33 comparable locations, the average wait time has dropped by 24 days; a ~75% reduction. Check out the chart below for a comparison.
Essentially, if you live in Eastern or Western Kentucky, you can schedule a driver’s license appointment for tomorrow and be in and out quickly.
If you live in Central Kentucky (excluding Lexington and Louisville), it will take about 14 days.
If you live in Northern Kentucky, it will take about 13 days.
If you live in Lexington or Louisville, it will take about 20 days.
This is why you’re still seeing people drive two hours to get their license renewed. It’s either that or drive on an expired license until an appointment becomes available.
I am disappointed that there is insufficient support to return driver’s licenses to the counties. However, I will not stop hammering this issue until Kentucky delivers a driver’s license program that works for its citizens.
As you can see on the map, we need more licensing locations to accommodate the population densities in Northern Kentucky, Lexington, Louisville, Bardstown, and Bowling Green.
Man arrested in Kentucky for riding on a horse while drunk, a claimed violation of Ky St. 189.520, operating a non-motor vehicle while intoxicated.
But is a horse a "vehicle"?
No Kentucky cases on this, but police report on left, code's definition of a "vehicle" on right.
Happy Birthday Jake, The Franchise and Clinton Co. Circuit Clerk. Great friend of mine and the most connected elected official I know in the Commonwealth of Kentucky. A friend to all!!!!
All this basically tracks to me — even the weird ones like Fleming (Amish) and Christian (Ft. Campbell) — except Carroll County.
Also expected McCracken, Woodford, Anderson & Bullitt to be in better shape.
