I love the idea of Zyhir Hope having a shot at the big league roster next year.

…and don’t come at me about a lockout. I’ll cross that bridge if we come to it.

First, 28 home runs. That’s always fun. He’s reached a 20/20 season. In 2025, Hope hit .215 vs LHP. In 2026, he’s hitting .286 vs. LHP.

He’s played all OF positions, but works almost equally split time between LF and RF. Tigers need that.

All this while he’s still three years younger than the Eastern League average age.

Tiger fans, it ain’t a good morning.

The only thing making it remotely good is that football is finally here—and we don’t have to keep watching this utter bullshit they’re trying to pass off as Major League Baseball.

A.J., don’t even try to stand up there and tell us last night was unacceptable. We already know it was unacceptable. What’s truly unacceptable is what this front office has done to this baseball team.

I genuinely believe you’re a baseball guy. You’ve done some shit I can’t stand, but you still know baseball—and you know damn well this isn’t baseball. So don’t defend it.

You’ve got Double-A players in a Major League lineup. Half this patchwork roster was playing in Double-A or below last year. Are you shitting me?

Thank God St. Paul had its mascot running around the stadium, because the Tigers supplied everything else needed for a Triple-A baseball game.

You could see it on the players’ faces. I saw Javier Báez sitting at the end of that dugout, probably thinking, “What in the hell is going on? It’s August 31, I’m sitting on the bench making $25 million, and there’s a Double-A player starting in left field.”

And it wasn’t just Báez. Look at the faces of the everyday position players—the guys who have been here all year. You can see them looking around that dugout thinking, “What in the hell am I looking at right now?”

It’s The Sixth Sense, Detroit Tigers edition:

“I see Double-A people.”

That’s where this organization is right now. They’ve assembled a Double-A and Triple-A roster, put it on a Major League field, and expected everybody to accept it.

You can’t make this shit up. This is Major League—the movie—playing out in real life.

Ownership got exactly what it wanted this weekend: the Dodgers came to town, the stadium was packed, and they collected their money. I understand it was the Dodgers. I understand people wanted to see Skubal one last time. But Tigers fans, this needs to stop.

If this is what baseball means to Chris Ilitch, then he needs to sell the team. Keep the Red Wings. Go do whatever you’re doing over there. But give the Tigers to somebody who actually wants to win, because this sure as hell isn’t what trying to win looks like.

This is the biggest travesty I have ever witnessed in professional baseball. Period. End of story.

And never forget this:

ONE MONTH AGO, this was one of the hottest teams in baseball.

One month. Thirty days.

That’s all it took to turn one of baseball’s hottest teams into a club that would have trouble winning a series against the Oakland A’s.

That is what this front office has done to the Detroit Tigers—in 30 days.
