@JdubAndrew@scs_real I don't think that's right. The radiative law is one power below the dimensionality based on derivation from Gauss's theorem. In two dimensions the radiative spread would be 1/r.
@JdubAndrew@MagneticNorse@TXPSALM55@grok It's also a lie. A lot of new datacenters are using wastewater and treating it first because the cost isn't terrible and we're frankly just trying to play nice.
@JDJA_FGC@Timstillherelol yeah no, snow plows are decently cheap and most of the snow removal is done by private people where I live (which is one of the snowiest states in America).
The electron isn't outpacing the "speed of light", it's outpacing the speed of the photonic WAVEFRONT (the "phase velocity"). A photon in water isn't free to travel openly like in vacuum. It gets absorbed and retransmitted by the water molecules. That "slows" down the aggregate wavefront. The electrons are high-energy and thus move very fast. The electrons repel the water molecules as they move through the water. This creates a wake (like a boat moving fast enough to leave behind a coherent wake). If the electrons were slower than the wavefront, the waves would spread in all directions and cancel eachother. But because the electrons move faster than the wavefront, it creates a coherent "wake" which presents as a blue glow.
Yeah I mean stuff is expensive, especially if you want to go with an American company that has a reputation. I'm sure it can be done cheaper. But there were greater quotes (e.g. Carrier) that would have locked me out of spare parts, too. And I really liked the local contractors. I've had him do work on my barn and such, since then. So it's a balance. Bottom line, the quote is not outrageous.
@SCDC87@ouranometrian2 Right, same. For a pretty damn good (97) furnace + heat pump, communicating, it was like $15k for me -- local small company, etc. I assume based on needing 2 units that dude is in a hot state too -- could easily be 5+ ton units.
@wil_da_beast630 This is so obvious that we even have a law protecting spouses from having to testify against their spouse. I don't know, women say dumb things, so I'm not sure I would really believe her, but, feels like grounds for divorce.
@moynes@lomaxx Also note that without this law I would still have to pay the same tax -- just only AFTER I cashed them out. So the total amount doesn't differ in the end. It only prevents me from investing in my own hard work.
@moynes@lomaxx It's even worse because the taxation prevented me from investing as much as I had options to do, which means the end result is larger investment firms get more share of the company. It's a total scam and progressive policies are the vehicle.
@moynes@lomaxx That's because rich people have collateral to put up against the loan in case the stocks don't become liquid in the future.
These policies don't hurt rich people -- they hurt regular people trying to get ahead. That's the counter-intuitive nature of progressive policy.
I had no degree. I had no car. I had no money.
All I had was my ability to mansplain.
Only AFTER we got together, I started to be better. I went back to school for physics, worked for a decade, became an extremely high-earning tech professional.
She just knew she loved me and that I would "take her on an adventure".
If you have something in you, I believe there's a woman who can see it.
@huntersnintendo@wil_da_beast630 My wife picked me up on the side of the street where I was reading a book with mismatched socks (that's how she tells the story, anyway). I don't think it should be too serious.
