Not because of some battlefield necessity, but because a raw video of an Iranian strike that killed two U.S. soldiers at Muwaffaq Salti Air Base in Jordan dared to escape the regime's carefully curated propaganda machine. The footage circulated, the deaths became undeniable, and Donald Trump's authoritarian apparatus responded the only way it knows how: confiscate the evidence and silence the witnesses.

CENTCOM's commander admitted in a July 28 letter that troop videos were helping Iran assess its own damage. Translation: the regime cannot tolerate any independent record that contradicts the official story of strength and control. In Jordan the seizures are already underway. Families at home are left anxious and cut off, while the administration that thrives on lies continues its project of manufacturing consent through enforced ignorance.

This is not security. This is the classic authoritarian move: when reality embarrasses the strongman, punish the people who recorded it. Trump's regime has never been interested in informing the American people; it is committed to lying to them — about competence, about costs, about the consequences of its own posturing. Two dead service members become an inconvenience best managed by taking away the phones that might show the truth. The public is to receive only the approved narrative. Everything else is a threat to be neutralized.

When a government responds to inconvenient footage of its own failures by disarming its soldiers of their personal devices, it has abandoned any pretense of democratic accountability. It has chosen the fascist path of narrative control over honesty. The phones are the latest casualty. The real target remains the American people's right to know.

A federal judge just ruled @POTUS broke the Constitution when he yanked $7.6 billion in clean energy grants from 16 states for one reason: every single one voted for Kamala Harris.

U.S. District Judge Amit Mehta didn't have to guess at the motive. The administration admitted it. He wrote that officials made the cuts "primarily — if not exclusively — based on whether the awardee resided in a state whose citizens voted for @POTUS in 2024." They offered no explanation for how punishing people for their state's vote served any government interest.

The cuts killed 223 projects across 16 Harris-voting states. Nearly identical projects in Trump states were left untouched.

The paper trail was sloppy, too. The termination notices weren't even sent on official Energy Department letterhead. They came on letters with "Department of Energy" simply typed across the top.

The damage wasn't abstract. California lost up to $1.2 billion for a hydrogen hub the state says supports over 200,000 jobs, with $10 billion in private money already committed. Battery plants, grid upgrades and carbon capture projects were also wiped out.

Budget director Russell Vought announced it on social media by bragging that "the Left's climate agenda is being canceled."

Mehta ruled the cuts violated equal protection and ordered the grants restored.
