Exchanged pleasantries w/ a tall, well-spoken, bespectacled man in a queue @WaterstonesYork yesterday who I should have asked to go for a drink. 🤓📚☕️ It was on the 1st floor at around 3. Are you out there fellow book-lover? (There’s a possibility I’ve watched too many rom-coms)
So this illegal & immoral #RefugeeBanBill passes second reading, 312 to 270, trashing international law, running roughshod over human rights, & shaming us all. It’s not refugees who are threat to this country, it’s the Tory government. But opposition will only grow #StopTheBill
The UK Government are trying to rip up the human rights of some of the most vulnerable people in society.
So, here’s a little thread of some of the things they don’t want you to be reminded of right now:
Will probably delete this but want to post for those who feel similar because it's maddening thinking you're the only one/one of very few. I am very sad about but making peace with the fact that romantic love is sthg that eludes some of us for reasons we cannot know or control.
@JoannaCannon I mean, it’s a bit of an obvious one but Wuthering Heights. Years ago I wrote my dissertation on the part thresholds (doors, windows, porches etc) play in the novel.
My younger self used to think of music, film and theatre as pleasant add-ons to life. It took me until adulthood to fully understand that these things are life itself.
It is just the most disappointing thing to wake up from nice dreams and have to accept that they aren’t reality. Today it’s that I’m not dating James Acaster after all, absolutely gutted.
The cost of meeting the nurses' pay demand - £1.6bn 🏥
Cost of Sunak's bank tax giveaway - £7.3bn 💸
They have the money to give nurses a proper pay rise- they just don't want to.
RT if you back a real pay rise for our nurses 👊
Is it just me or has the U.K. govt’s refusal to negotiate at all with NHS staff just really shone a light on their decade long orchestrated destruction of our only healthcare system?
