Spring break this week, so no placement but I have my 2nd observation scheduled and planned. I will be teaching a painting lesson reviewing colors that match different fruits and vegetables. #EDU310
I was able to see my kiddos the day before their spring break and they were all excited to do fun & festive activities in class. It was great getting to hear about all their plans while away on break #EDU310
@MsJohnson0303 You got this!👊 Starting with a small group lesson is a great way to ease into it and get to see how students react to us teaching rather than their general education teacher.
This week I only attended placement for an hour due to parent conferences this week. It was nice talking to my mentor teacher about how conferences go for art and how she uses her time within the classroom on those days when the students aren't there. #EDU310
@schle025 It's always fun getting to experience days where kids have events/dress up days at placement! I had a few art classes where students came in with backwards clothes or mismatching. It was so cute!
Talked to my mentor teacher about grading, they use a scale of 0-4. It's interesting that art now uses this number scale. It was informative seeing the break down on this poster in her room and having her explain the different skills that each project teaches students. #EDU310
@MissFaithArts Good luck Faith, you'll do great! And what a fun goal, getting to see students work together, I am sure there will be great results and can't wait to see!
I am currently attending placement 3 days a week and I have been loving it. It's a bit of a longer drive but worth it! Going more often has helped me become more comfortable and familiar with the students, mentor teacher and classroom. #EDU310
@MsWhite98 That is so sweet your mentor teacher made you a mini desk space! Makes everything feel a bit more official🤗 You could use inspiration for your future classroom to spruce it up a bit. Set the vibe✌️
@MsWhite98 The puppet lesson sounds so fun, I hope it goes well for you!🧡 I observed a class of 4k students in art this week and they were ANGELS, its so sweet to see how amazed they are with what they learn and create in class.
Wanted to share this board my mentor teacher created to show each grade level the standards they are hitting as well as examples of their current art projects. Its a great reference point in the room for both the students and myself!
@MissFaithArts I am placed with a younger age group in art this semester too! My best advice is to take in the different lessons goals/standards your mentor teacher follows to help formulate ideas for your future lessons. Each grade has unique goals that can be achieved so many different ways.
Observed 9 different art classes ranging in grades 4k-5th at my placement and I was pleasantly surprised how much I enjoyed this age group. I was originally die hard high school but it is great to see the excitement and interactions from these younger age groups. #EDU310
