#HCPSread A5: As a first-year teacher, I sometimes find myself asking questions during my modeling. I feel like I do this naturally to keep them involved and engaged. I know that modeling is about showing and providing a think aloud, but I struggle with this!

#HCPSread A4: Zoom is the perfect opportunity to model like in a traditional classroom! It even allows you to scaffold for students on a more individualized basis!

#HCPSread A3: A lot of what we do in the younger grades is the I do, we do, you do when modeling. The more I am reading and learning, I notice that these do not have to be in a particular order. You have to do what is best for your students' needs! Zoom or in your room!

#HCPSread A2: Most importantly, we need to explain to our students why we use these strategies and how to use them in the real world to get them to buy into it!

#HCPSread A1: Students need to actually see you engage in the steps of what you are modeling, so they can use the same exact steps again on their own! I want my students to use it across subjects and life, not just that day!

#HCPSread Follow up: I had a child who has not been completing assignments online. I asked him 'what was getting in the way of him doing them' instead of giving him and his parent a lecture on how important it is. It encouraged him to participate because he knew I cared!

#HCPSread A5: It should not be based on what we feel or think, it should be based on the activity and the skill at hand. The students need to know we will always give unbiased feedback because we want them to learn the absolute most that they can!

#HCPSread A4: As a miner, you get more specific information about your students that better helps you to provide feedback that is effective!

#HCPSread A3: These students can use these deeper, more meaningful feedback conversations to build their relationship with their teacher. Then, they may feel more comfortable with making mistakes because they will know we are here to support and encourage them always!

#HCPSread A2: The hardest part is not being warm and cozy and keeping myself out of it! I want them to know they are loved, but giving them specific feedback is also very important!

@avivabaker @avivabaker You could try a challenge for them where you will dump ice water on your head and send them a video or something if everyone joins!! That might help 😆 #hcpsread

#HCPSread A1: I love to do chants! It gets the students engaged, and if a student does something special I let them pick the chant! (rollercoaster, round of applause, taking a picture, etc.)
