Unlike Luke fans, Rey fans don’t have multiple entire official novel series in which he’s one of the main characters and he is a master who trains Jedi. Luke fans actually get to have that if they know how to read! Rey fans don’t.

The Luke fans in my mentions are so delusional because there’s no universe in which he’s the main character of VII-IX. That was never Lucas’s intent whatsoever. He would have probably had more screen time but he would have played largely a similar role: the mentor who dies.

Everyone on this site and elsewhere is ignoring the fact that Kinberg co-created and co-wrote some of the biggest episodes of Rebels, likely because that show is why Lucasfilm is having him map out the new trilogy and if people acknowledged it; their rage bait falls apart.

Kinberg's credits on the series include the series premiere, the intro of Tarkin in Call to Action, the season 1 finale Fire Across the Galaxy, the season 2 finale Twilight of the Apprentice (the Ahsoka/Vader duel), and the series finale.

Lucasfilm repeatedly trusted him with beginnings, endings, and pivotal moments. To Lucasfilm, his Rebels contributions show an ability to introduce new heroes, connect them to larger galactic events, and deliver major emotional payoffs while respecting the franchise's mythology.

Whether someone likes his non-Star Wars work is a separate debate, but within Rebels, he was involved in some of the show's most important chapters and that's what Lucasfilm was looking for when finding someone to map out a new trilogy from beginning to end.

@HarryMecha On the positive side, Kinberg is there because of Rebels and not Dark Phoenix, and we still don’t know the DP so it could end up looking good

But yeah, I’m not exactly *excited* about these choices and I do see them as safe :/
