We found one amino acid in particular that it’s important for the particular RNA methylation necessary for multi-drug resistance. We still have a lot more to learn about this enzyme, including experimental structure determination of a Cfr-RNA complex.

Interesting twist. It has long been known that addition of rRNA modifications can lead to AMR, it’s interesting to see the opposite is also true. I wonder if there are rRNA methylhydrolases out there that are undiscovered.
