@m_rizky_gumilar @JakX62 @Genki_JPN TotK had a slightly shorter dev time than BotW, was built using the same engine, assets, models and animations as BotW just greatly expanded. They also had the world map built, and the pipeline to build new assets was already established. It probably cost around the same as BotW.

Back then games were cheaper too, so… taking out taxes on sales, packaging and shipping, marketing, etc etc… it was probably even less than $40mil to develop the game. God of War Ragnarok was $200mil.

@m_rizky_gumilar @JakX62 @Genki_JPN When Nintendo can cheaply port a Wii U game to their new console and sell over 60 million copies, or make a huge, ambitious open world game for 1/5th the cost of God of War and have it sell more than double GoW’s sales… that’s not a good sign for Sony.

@m_rizky_gumilar @JakX62 @Genki_JPN They’re selling well enough, but it’s not a huge success and 15mil sales on a $200mil game with a colossal marketing budget isn’t a huge turnover. And a lot of their games are once in a generation because they take 5-7 years to make now

@m_rizky_gumilar @JakX62 @Genki_JPN PS5’s library of games is anaemic at best, with no major releases until April 2025 at the earliest… if the current library doesn’t make you want one, no upcoming game will change that.

Plus the games that do come out don’t sell very well considering the huge costs to make them.

Aonuma himself even said so… he’s an insert for the player, a “Link” if you will to the player and the world of Hyrule.
