To be fair to Jeb, he has responsibilities to a large company with shareholders and hundreds of employees depending on its decisions. Everything he says can be overanalyzed and turned into “news” by mainstream media.

As someone who also worked in the Minecraft community for 14+ years, I can say it takes a high tolerance for hate and harassment. I’ve had to hire security multiple times and work with law enforcement more than once.

Transparency as a developer is a double-edged sword. You say something in good faith, and years later, you’re still being quoted even after you’ve changed your mind. It’s a tricky balance.

Personally, I’d rather say “I changed my mind, let’s move on” and deal with the downsides 😛
