I want to thank Amazon for removing their English AI dub of #BANANAFISH. That being said, myself and many others believe that every other language should be given the same respect. The same goes for every other piece of media that has been dubbed with AI for your platform.

I believe the Spanish AI dub is still available at this time, and I sincerely hope that it will soon be given the same treatment as the English dub. Please, no half measures - we as creatives want to know that we're being heard and respected. That we have your support. A massive number of your consumers have now vehemently expressed they want real performers, not AI.

It needs to be every AI dub, @PrimeVideo @amazon. Not just the ones currently under fire. Thank you for hearing us, and I hope this is the beginning of a path toward a remedied future.

Twitter has turned into a place of hate which people are getting on each other. Raising awareness for what AI is doing is good. Letting AI progress negatively and putting people out of jobs is bad.

Anime is more popular than ever. This year alone had two of the highest grossing animated movies to date at the box office — both of which are eligible for Oscar nominations.

Amazon’s choice to use AI to dub Banana Fish is a massive insult to us as performers. AI continues to threaten livelihoods of performers in EVERY language (yes even Japanese performers who are also incredibly vocal on this topic).

Voice Actors deserve the same level of respect as on camera performers. Anime already pays talent very little. Dub production costs shouldn’t make a dent in these companies’ pocket books.

Using AI for a dub of a show that released nearly 8 YEARS AGO AND HAD NO RUSHED SCHEDULE just spits in our faces, has infuriated the consumer, and completely destroys the art.

All they’ve done is make a shitty product and pissed off a lot of people. 🤷

It’s disrespectful as hell. Was a queer trauma narrative handed to a machine because paying real actors is too hard?
