📊 u21 midfielders: "stabilizing"
- fwd pass vs. defensive duel success rates
- white data points are u21, green are additional standout non u21 midfielders
- fwd pass %: captures consistent actions, does not reward over-indexing to risk like progressive or long passes, best highlights stability
- def duel %: there generally exists a trade off between def duel volume and success rate at the apex, prioritizing winning actions over volume of actions to balance risk/reward for stability
Deals like this are just frustrating, because ideally, it should be Santos + two more. Santos on his own in isolation, for me, is a good useful player for a good fee. But because of Ederson it rules out the possibility of a ‘Tonali—Matty F’ like rebuild which is what we needed.
‼️ LA FALSA HUMILDAD DE MESSI

@TheDevilsDNA Hi, long time can't see your inputs on united transfers although so much negativities on this app from United fans regarding M. Fernandes & Tonali, what's your input ? Did you miss really something significant or not ? Me personally didn't feel bad at all for Tonali.
Only 3 of the 11 players Luis Enrique signed for PSG in the summer of 2023 are still at the club. The other 8 have already been sold.
They signed them, gave them a chance, realised they weren’t good enough and moved them on… all within 2.5 years.
There’s no chance every player you sign will be a success and that’s perfectly fine. Some will inevitably be misses. That’s exactly why you can’t build a world class squad by making just 4 signings every summer.
You need at least one summer where you go big on signings. INEOS have the perfect opportunity to do it this window with UCL money and record expected annual revenue. It just feels like they don’t want to.
Pre-season training starts in 8 days. 8 DAYS.
Michael Carrick will begin pre-season with Mason Mount as his only senior first team midfielder. Think about that for a second.
People defending INEOS clearly don’t understand how important pre-season is for a coach. This isn’t just about saving money. It’s about giving the manager the best possible chance to implement his ideas and have a great campaign.
They’re basically setting Carrick up to fail, but it’s fine though… at least the balance sheet looks good 🥰
We had a better window last summer without champions league football makes you question @INEOS and @OmarBerrada as fans of the club we seen this direction before
- Sir Alex Ferguson personally met with Ronaldo to convince him to choose United over Arsenal.
- He personally met with Van Persie to persuade him to join United.
- He personally travelled to London to convince Smalling to choose United.
- He personally persuaded Rio Ferdinand, Wayne Rooney and Nemanja Vidic to join the club.
United were the most successful club in England in SAF’s era, and he still had to actively convince players to join.
Now, apparently players should just run to Manchester the moment INEOS show interest and turn down every other offer simply because they should choose “The Project”.
Yeah, what a great strategy... 😭
“INEOS want players who only want United”
So if Tchouameni is open to other clubs, United should just walk away from him as well? And the same logic applies to the next target too?
If a player ticks every box and would instantly raise the level of the team, but is also in demand and considering his options, are United just supposed to give up?
Is that really the strategy they’re using to build a great squad? 😭
