Only 3 of the 11 players Luis Enrique signed for PSG in the summer of 2023 are still at the club. The other 8 have already been sold.

They signed them, gave them a chance, realised they weren’t good enough and moved them on… all within 2.5 years.

There’s no chance every player you sign will be a success and that’s perfectly fine. Some will inevitably be misses. That’s exactly why you can’t build a world class squad by making just 4 signings every summer.

You need at least one summer where you go big on signings. INEOS have the perfect opportunity to do it this window with UCL money and record expected annual revenue. It just feels like they don’t want to.

People defending INEOS clearly don’t understand how important pre-season is for a coach. This isn’t just about saving money. It’s about giving the manager the best possible chance to implement his ideas and have a great campaign.

If a player ticks every box and would instantly raise the level of the team, but is also in demand and considering his options, are United just supposed to give up?
