I'm honestly amazed that Canada is at this point that we celebrating the total mismanagement of our infrastructure projects as an achievement.

The new West Coast Oil Pipeline, called Pacific Link:

> Will now spend another year in paperwork trying to navigate red tape.
> Taxpayers in Alberta and across Canada will finance Indigenous ownership of minimum 10%.

In total, a 3 year project will take 10 years and, to no surprise, the private sector doesn't have much interest.

The City of Calgary would be a quarter of its current size if it only did the things a municipality is supposed to do.

Note that pipelines have now been pulled out of private ownership and the new pipeline is jointly owned by Alberta and Canada, handcuffing Alberta to Canada while the province votes on Alberta separation.
Meaning if Alberta votes to separate, the Government of Canada has the ability to enact economic punishment on Alberta.
This is an entirely strategic ploy, the timing of everything is used as political barter.

We should never require government ownership in order to build out infrastructure, it is insanity that it has come to this point.
