This is the result of an encounter with a VIP security escort team on Alfred Rewane Road, Ikoyi this afternoon.

A member of the escort struck my side mirror with a rod while forcing vehicles out of the way for a convoy.

Security personnel are meant to protect citizens, not damage their property.

Who holds these escorts accountable? The cost of replacement was unbudgeted but it has to come from somewhere in these hard economic times.

What should Nigeria do to curb this menace of kidnapping and banditry. Across the Niger, innocent, defenceless Nigerians are being captured like fixed assets on a terrorist’s balance sheet!

Their strength determined by how much lives they can keep for profit. Humans have now become balance sheet items yielding interest and profit in the hands of terrorists.

It is so disheartening that I wish I could help these people! I feel frustrated that their pain permeates my soul, but I can’t rescue them.

The husband requesting to be swapped with his wife and baby who were kidnapped. The wife begging government to please rescue them. The other teacher beheaded, sacrificed to prove a point.

I can only say, that the snake that visits the termites’ abode, believing each to be a snack, will soon wear the same termites as its robe of destruction!

I’m happy that the IG himself has come out to address this gruesome extrajudicial killing of an unarmed, restrained citizen.

This issue, if not well handled, can lead to a conflagration like the EndSARS protest.

How on earth can a police officer, in broad daylight light, with witnesses recording, shoot a retrained man in the head!? I am still in shock and now more afraid of the Nigerian Police. If this can be done in broad daylight, what then will happen when there are no witnesses. Oh my goodness!!

I think the prosecution of these officers needs to be expedited, and made public to bring some semblance of confidence back to the shocked public!

I watched the Perspective interview and it was clear: Blessing needed to come clean.

But here’s what angers me most: in a functional society, the Medical Council would have filed a report. The doctor who allegedly signed that report would have engaged the police. The Commissioner of Police in Lagos and Enugu would have summoned her. The Nigerian Cancer Society would have spoken up — loudly — to defend the integrity of cancer patients everywhere.

None of that happened. And it may not.

This is exactly the kind of recklessness that hands governments the excuse to clamp down on social media.

Influencers spreading misinformation to millions, with zero accountability.

An apology is not enough at this point. Think about the genuine cancer patients who watched this. Those begging the public to stay alive because they can’t afford treatment. The ridicule this brings to their reality is unconscionable.

Shame on all of us. This is a collective failure — of institutions, of accountability, of all of us…

I’m genuinely thrilled. I wish I could get this book for my child—if I see it, I’ll buy it instantly. I read parts of it as a child, and it shaped my appreciation of Yoruba culture very early.

Forest of a Thousand Demons—translated by Wole Soyinka, originally written by D.O. Fagunwa—is profoundly rich in Yoruba literature, culture, and spirituality. It reminds me that Yoruba is not just a language of words, but a tapestry of history, idioms, body language, worldview, and spiritual meaning—elements that only make sense when held together.

Yoruba can never be fully understood without understanding the history behind its words and the depth of its expressions.

We should indeed have an audio version of this book, properly copyrighted. Our culture is dying, and these are the subtle ways to revive them so it gains appreciation in a world where language has transformed into shallow expressions and slangs.

I’ve been watching this Dangote/Farouk saga closely.

There are dynamics that aren’t apparent but I may be wrong.

1. President Tinubu couldn’t have removed Farouk without incident. It may have had political consequences from the North amidst recent claims that the president was filling positions with his “Lagos boys”.

2. Mr. Dangote may have complained to the President and the President may have said: “Bruv, I feel you man. But as a Yoruba President, it may not be tidy to do it myself. You are a northerner, go fight dirty with your northern brother, then I will be removed from the scenario and back you from behind the scenes. Here is DSS report on Farouk, go use it. No talk say na me give you o. Talk to my Editor at The Nation, they will help you publish this with good photoshop!”

3. Mr. Dangote’s best friend is Femi Ote$. They could have had this conversation with Femi saying - “Bruv, the last Farouk that did this to me, you know how it ended. Give him the Farouk treatment. Precise, Merciless! Give him something to battle with for life”. Dangote must have responded thus - “Brooooo, let me confide in you. 4. At the Presidential Villa, Bayo Onanuga and Femi Gbaja already had names waiting. Letters to Senate ready, signed. Nominees put on standby! Moment Dangote did the needful, Bayo was activated. Akpabio was waiting and the rest was a clean, smooth operation that lasted just 72 hours.

Please tell me my imagination isn’t running wild. One day, this story may get told.
