The Labor Party Veterans Policy Package has been announced - https://t.co/b7U4d0zqSJ.
The TPI Federation’s media release has been issued - https://t.co/v9NxCWSX7M.
TPI Fed seeks support every Veteran & their families to ensure that the rightful compensation is recd all Vets.
Indeed Barnesy!!
The plight of 27,000 TPI #Veterans is a just one case in point where no matter the clear evidence placed before them, a succession of Governments have failed to address the 70 odd years of erosion in the compensation afforded to Australia's most disabled #Veterans.
This payment is made up of two notional components, namely "pain & suffering" and "economic loss" (EC).
The erosion has been so bad that the EC is just 62% of the gross Minimum Wage. By any measure, this is an appalling indictment as measured against the lowest arbitrated wage standard for the country.
The @TPIFED and commentators like myself have been fighting the oxygen thieves up here on the grassy knoll to have the EC benchmarked to the tax-adjusted Minimum Wage.
I make no apology for using such disparaging remarks, because over the reign of the LNP they promised us the world and delivered not one red cent to address this major problem. They instead couldn't defeat our research or logical arguments, but instead changed language and concepts to abrogate responsibility.
The moral of this story is that I and many like me are now just saying to thevgeneral public ... "do not join the ADF, or take on any high risk vocation within the public service, because the Commonwealth has a demonstrated propensity to renege on its obligations and not look after those who have suffered employment ending illness or disability. The current saga and continued legal action surrounding superannuation invalidity benefits of 32,000 invalidity recipients is another classic case in point.
Anyway, I hope this finds you and others here well.
Warmest regards
Peter

@MillyMolly300@tyrelle123 $240m would enable 27,000 TPI Vets to receive the min wage as compensation that is currently 65% of min wage. Do Aussies really want to help AFL in lieu of Aust most disabled Veterans Prime Minister?
Story for you here 👇 Canberra media. Even in the ACT the card given to injured/ill veterans fir 'approved' claims us effectively junk because medicos don't accept them any more. What on earth does the $11.5 billion p/a @DVAAus actually do?
Hi #auspol Veterans Affairs Minister @mattkeogh. Lots of blah about the Medicare crisis over the last few weeks. A longer running crisis is that GPs and other medicos can't afford to treat DVA clients because the fees are even lower. This blood is on your hands now. Stop hiding.
@AlboMP Veterans have had bipartisan "support" and "consultations" for many years and still disabled Veterans cannot get even hearing aids for their compensable conditions. What difference would the Voice have for the Indigenous community. They will get the same -
As a member of the third generation of a family that has served in the armed forces, I am very honoured to be taking on the role of Shadow Minister for Veterans’ Affairs.
The service of others for our nation shall be given the greatest attention I can offer.
For 🤬 sake #auspol
On eve #AnzacDay2022 this $1,000 p.a. low-balling by @AlboMP is huge slap in the face to ~27,000 @TPIFED#Veterans
What part of benchmarking the economic loss of TPI Compo to 100% of tax-adjusted Min Wage doesn't Labor understand?
WTF @ShayneNeumannMP? 🤬

And on 1 policy commitment: What will both sides do about eroded compo of 28,000 Totally & Permanently Incapacitated #Veterans?👇

2021 @AuSenate
Inquiry unanimously agreed @TPIFED 9yr claim, & recommended an increase!
What say U #auspol#AnzacDay
@D_LittleproudMP Why aren’t journalists asking this question? Why are TPI Veterans still struggling on 63% MinWage for economic loss?
https://t.co/sliBM7RAsZ
Remaining strictly apolitical, I wish you a speedy recovery.
However, in your absence, it will be a good opportunity for OZ democracy to see & hear from your leadership team.
Also, with #AnzacDay2022 just days away, pse consider doing right thing & fix TPI #Veterans compo
For those not familiar with the plight of our TPIs then please watch this 👇

By any measure, 63% (now 62%) of Minimum Wage for their economic loss in compensation is not fair, and according to @AlboMP, is tantamount to "THEFT"👇
