If having this on the White House lawn isn't crass and tacky, what would be?
Are there any limits? Wet t-shirt contests? Dwarf tossing? Nude jello wrestling? A climate-change die-in? Fat liberation dance party?
Or is presidential dignity a thing of yesteryear?
@mtaibbi Because they tend to live in urban areas and skew younger and are college educated so are more receptive to the convience.
But look at Utah and Wyoming which skew Republican and have a large number of mail in voters
@mtaibbi Why have studies found very low rates of fraud for mail in ballots?
In person is subject to the same level but different set of risks.
I think your issue with mail in is j7st a personal quirk
@mtaibbi Actually goes back to 1978
“Any registered voter may vote by ‘absentee’ ballot. Prior to 1978, only persons with a certified excuse… Since 1978, any registered voter may apply…”

@mtaibbi Before covid anyone could sign up for mail in vote and would get it automatically.
Any registered voter could get a mail in ballot pre covid

@SurlMudgeon@mtaibbi Before covid you could sign up as a vote by mail and get it sent to you.
Under covid what changed is everyone got one regardless of sign up
@kbean511@mtaibbi For online registration, you generally need:
A California driver's license or California ID card number, and
The last four digits of your Social Security number.
Those details are checked against government records.
