Life update: today I fulfilled a lifelong dream and started as a meteorologist at ⁦@NWSLakeCharles⁩! Very excited for this opportunity to serve the communities of southwest Louisiana and southeast Texas.

NWS Meteorologists have reviewed a CoCoRaHS rain gauge that measured 29.06 inches of rain 3.4 miles SE of Cottonport, LA on June 18, 2026. This total easily breaks the previous 24 hour Louisiana rain record of 22 inches which occurred in Hackberry on August 29, 1962.

@DanielleDozier I use it to communicate situations where there is a threat of short-lived tornadoes, often along a QLCS, that are unlikely to be strong (most likely EF0-1 strength). It emphasizes that the tornado threat is real, but unlikely to be of the strong long-tracked supercell variety.
