Thousands of teachers are expected to march in Raleigh on May 1. Is it a strike? Teachers aren't allowed to strike under NC law. But NCAE says it's a mass mobilization & not a strike. Teachers are requesting leave to take the day off. https://t.co/OPHeRtpBGa #ncpol#nced
The folks at @TheAssemblyNC are out with a bombshell investigation of the shadowy network of evangelical anti-abortion groups disguised as medical clinics operating across North Carolina - and the tens of millions of our tax dollars Republican lawmakers are dishing out to them.
The investigation documented how these clinics not only straight-up lie to women, but harass them and even steal their personal information for manipulation. Even better? Most of the taxpayer money isn't even going into services at all, but straight into the pockets of anti-abortion leaders.
When Democratic lawmakers demanded more information - where is taxpayers' money going? What are they doing with it? - Republicans blocked their inquiries, and informed the groups they shouldn't respond.
Republican legislators like @DeanArp@RalphHise@joycekrawiec refused to comment for the story.
Our tax dollars at work!
With the @uncwomenssoccer NCAA title today, every four-year @UNC student who enrolled since 1977 has been on campus for at least one @goheels national title.
Those original students are now 65 years old.

North Carolina! I'll be coming to Durham for a *live show and Q&A and book signing on Monday 12/2. Come on out. *Listen, most podcast live shows are just a couple of dudes sitting in chairs doing a lesser version of their usual show. This is not that. It's actually good.
The number of instructional days that are permanently lost due to field trips, college fairs, sporting events, etc is way too high. Extracurricular activities that encroach on the academic calendar and bell schedule are no longer extracurricular. It turns school into summer camp.
We just got water in Asheville, 19 days after Hurricane Helene. It’s brown and you can’t drink it yet, but once the impurities are flushed out it will be fine. The city has done an amazing job repairing catastrophic damage. Pipes 30-40 feet underground were destroyed.
What this has made me realize, as an educator who has recommended kids chase these scholarships for 10+years— is that they’re basically operating as head hunters for prestigious schools who want a hand-picked list of students of color who aren’t seen as “risky” to admit
Yeah so this is extremely disappointing. I did genuinely hope @QuestBridge would react to this disaster with the values they claim to espouse re: giving marginalized students a boost in a process that is stacked against them.
I was at a water distro site w/a guy who would only direct traffic, no other job. But he kept stopping cars w/ADA tags from being able to park near the water… and pitched a fit when his fellow volunteers called him on it and he left, rather than adjusting. Don’t be that guy
I really hoped the allusions to victim-blaming of Appalachia for “not evacuating” or “ignoring warnings” I had seen in my scraps of cell service this week were overblown. Tonight I have wifi…. and many of y’all will not see heaven
I have no idea why people didn't have stores of fuel and generators, and stocks of food and water. Anyway here's a totally unrelated poverty map of Appalachia.
I don’t know if y’all have seen this post on FB about Asheville, NC right now, so I’m sharing it here:
@Imani_Barbarin has BEEN telling us about how disabled people are abandoned incrisis, here’s the latest of that happening in the aftermath of #HurricaneHelene#Disability
Since it is Paulo Freire's birthday, I want to remind everyone what he taught us: there’s no such thing as a politically neutral education, a politically neutral curriculum, or a politically neutral pedagogy.
Some said a CBA like this would never happen. #WeSaidNow. The Players just secured freedom over their careers and made history as the first American major pro sport to eliminate the draft.
Player freedom secured. Read more about our new CBA via link in bio. #wesaidnow
These kids dropped an absolute banger
AND smoked the Louisville public school system for their failure to provide adequate bus service to Black students
