I was interviewed on The Track Tribe by @TrackCoachJones podcast earlier this week about Coaching Across the Generations. It was a blast! Below is a sample clip. If you'd like to see/hear it all, here's the link:

“If you think the world is selfish and rotten, go to the cemetery at Colleville-sur-Mer overlooking Omaha Beach. See what one group of men did for another on D-Day, June 6th, 1944.” — Andy Rooney
This has been a popular episode on the Gill1918 Project podcasts. Fan favorite Mechelle Freeman discusses Women in Leadership from this year's @WISTCA convention.

Rob Gronkowski says he lived off $50,000 as an NFL rookie because he understood the NFL meant "Not For Long"
"My agent gave me a $50,000 advance for what's going to come in the marketing world for myself. I just had to pay him back within the first $50,000 I made"
"I was able to purchase my first car, which was a 2008 Escalade, and then to be able to pay rent once I got to New England. And then from there on out, I really didn't need any other money"
"I was getting free meals at the facility. I just kind of needed gas money. You go out, the drinks are free or you pay for one, you get 10 free when you're when you're on the Patriots up in the Boston area"
"So I wasn't really spending much money at all, especially when it got to the season. I mean, you're inside that building and everything's handed to you on a daily basis from breakfast all the way to dinner"
"I just lived off my marketing dollars. I was living a low-level life. I had a condo with a roommate that was on the team as well. We're paying $1,500 a month in rent while in the NFL"
"I was very frugal and that's how I got away with it. Not having any lavish purchases, the first couple years in the league and just banking away what I was making because I truly understood that the NFL stands for not for long"

There’s some quirk in physics where, if there’s a small hole in a bag of mulch it will leak all over your vehicle.
But if you rip a giant hole in the bag and try to dump it out into your landscaping, almost none will fall out.
STATE MEDALISTS.
Nate Haberlach, Beckett Andreasen, Isheanesu Nziramasanga and Kevin Lewczyk earn eighth for @LNEagleTF in the 4x800 relay during a downpour in the Class 5 State Championships.
This is one reason why sports participation in a healthy environment can provide a big boost to classroom learning. Hitting the wall and figuring out what comes next is a daily occurrence in well-coached sports experiences for kids.
You want to fix education?
Teach kids how to fail and try again. Resilience is not built by removing every obstacle. It is built by hitting the wall and figuring out what comes next.
Pure elation for Sheldon's Malachi Schoenherr earlier this morning. After finishing 5th a season ago in the 6A Boys 3000m at the OSAA Championships, the senior would cross the finish line in 8:21.07 taking home his first State Title in the event since his sophomore season.
The Tigers have hit the AL cellar, and their brand of play has completely eroded. The blame is widespread.

The best compliments a coach can get...
Dinner last night: "I've been doing this for 9 years and your kids are by far the most well behaved team that has ever come".
Hotel this AM: "Coach, your kids are so well mannered, good luck today".
Great kids make coaching enjoyable!
The classic rug gag in The Money Pit split Spielberg and film critic, Roger Ebert
During a test screening, Spielberg noted that when Tom Hanks dropped through the floor, the audience's laughter drowned out the next two minutes of dialogue. He considered it one of the best visual gags Amblin ever produced
Ebert hated it, writing that Hanks should have just screamed for help. Amblin publicly defended the joke, explaining that the entire comedic premise was based on the physical reality that Hanks couldn't scream because the tight rug was actively squeezing the air from his lungs
