I have mixed feelings about Cloudflare acquiring VoidZero. I like Cloudflare but I hoped to see Vite be "enough" to fund its own development. I felt the same with Astro. https://t.co/OEjn5oyOmA
@gunslnger@thevivafrei He didn't win, he didn't lawfully serve an authorized store rep/owner... And listed the wrong business on the original suit.
That said BAM are bad actors and AFPD are corrupt AF.
@CTownEnjoyer@thevivafrei You doing get to keep stolen property... When a pawn shop has stolen property it gets returned to the owner... Even if the pawn shop was taken over by someone else.
Bricks and Minifigs - from BAD to WORSE!
This is the body cam footage of the Utah police talking to the former franchisee about the Bricks and Minifigs (BAM) Reckless Ben situation.
The man puts the CEO of BAM, Ammon McNeff, on the phone. McNeff says a number of interesting things:
1) He ADMITS that the family is owed the money, but denies that he or the new franchisee owe it.
I reserve the right to be mistaken, but my understanding of franchise law is that although the franchisor is typically NOT liable for the debts of the franchisee, there are circumstances under which they can be - e.g. if they exercise sufficient control over the franchisee, such that the franchisee can be considered an “agent” under the law.
Given the degree of involvement the CEO is displaying with the new franchisee (the guy holding the phone), that argument might be made here.
2) He ADMITS the money is owed, but claims that Ben (Reckless Ben) has no interest in it.
This too is not necessarily true if the owner of the LEGOs assigned his claim to Ben. But set that possibility aside…
3) McNeff says that Ben and the others threatened to kill someone, attempted to commit extortion, and other serious crimes.
Again, under reserve of the right to be wrong, while it’s not illegal to lie per se to an officer in Utah, my understanding is that it is illegal to make false statements with the intention of getting officers to conduct official acts (i.e. press charges).
With the accusations he is making - that Ben threatened to kill someone! - McNeff might be getting close to that line.
4) McNeff ADMITS the money is owed, but claims the former franchisee broke all sorts of rules in contracting with the LEGO owner, which is why the franchisor terminated their agreement.
Depending on the knowledge of the misconduct of the franchisee, that might be another argument for the potential liability of corporate - if they knowingly let the franchisee break rules to the detriment / fraud of customers.
All that to say, the more McNeff talks, the more damage he causes to the brand and goodwill of BAM - even if Reckless Ben did cross certain lines.
@foursyYT You aren't allowed to keep property that belongs to someone else. You aren't allowed to make up fake police reports to ensure action against another.
BAM is in possession and selling goods that didn't belong to them. Been bought the title for those goods... BAM needs to argue in court that they either don't have then, never did and aren't responsible.
Ben is being salacious and inflating the facts... But BAM and AFPD are clearly bad actors.
The American Fork PD seems to have made several civil rights violations in the malicious handling of Ben. Not that Ben was completely without misdead, the AFPD crosses well over the like from incompetent to corrupt.
From missing and mitigating facts in the warrant, to misrepresenting the warrant. Not even control not just serving the papers to the guy when they verified the legitimacy of the lawsuit.
If you want to help get the Reckless Ben being harassed by American Fork PD story out there, call the local Utah newsrooms!

WEAPONIZATION: American Fork PD is the subject of a DOJ Civil Rights Division criminal referral over Reckless Ben & is now drowning in calls from across the country. Other Utah agencies report 170%+ call volume spikes. Americans won't tolerate cops violating journalists' rights. @HarmeetKDhillon
@ImKingGinger I'd be surprised if the @FBI and #DOJ didn't get involved... So many Brady violations in such a short time for the little PD.
@afpolice should definitely start cleaning house and dropping charges.
No, we have the technology to have near immediate results. It's not 1850.
For that matter even hand translation with today's communication could have regional results as the polls close.
There's literally no excuse in this day and she for results to take days, let alone weeks.
Disclosure, I work in the elections space.
You were prohibited by the UK govt...
Not surprising considering you actively support terrorism, communism and think raping white women is protective.
If course SxSW isn't supporting you. You're just mad nobody is willing to start a riot for your generational wreath, rich, untitled ass.
When it comes to politics and government.. 'Slippery Slope" is not a logical fallacy it's an inevitability.
Negotiation and outcomes that the extremes didn't like is the answer. This is the intended nature of western republic based democracy.
Preserving individual liberty is necessary in this light. It's about protecting the individual from a tyrannical majority.
Collectivism, socialism, corporatism and other movements to consolidate power will only lead to authoritarianism. This is because power absolutely corrupts. Limit it for everyone, including those you agree with.
