To launch the 2005–2007 A Bigger Bang tour, the Rolling Stones lit up Toronto’s Phoenix Club on August 10, 2005 — a secret show in front of just a few hundred fans.
That performance later became the live album Light The Fuse, released on this day in 2012.
The setlist features tracks from A Bigger Bang, some Stones classics and a few surprises — including Bob Marley’s Get Up, Stand Up and Otis Redding’s Mr Pitiful.
JUST IN! Due to popular demand, @NeilYoungNYA and the chrome hearts add a second show on August 19! Tickets are on sale this Friday @ 10AM local time. More info: https://t.co/M7g2C0rsCu
Sorry to hear the news about Garth Hudson. He was a beautiful guy and the real driving force behind The Band. Just listen to the original recording of The Weight and you’ll see.
My obit on Garth Hudson, the brainy, bush-bearded organist whose inimitable skills and endearing eccentricities displayed as a member of the pioneering Canadian-American roots-rock icons the Band made him an almost mythical figure since the late 1960s. https://t.co/DgJJA3TS26
Today, we sadly say goodbye to Garth "Honey Boy" Hudson, the last living original member of The Band. A musical genius and cornerstone of the group’s timeless sound, Garth once said, “I found some true enjoyment in helping people get to the bottom of their feelings.” Through his music, he did just that—helping us all feel more deeply and connect to something greater. Rest easy, Garth. 🕊

On this day in 1975, the Edmund Fitzgerald sank beneath the waves of Lake Superior during a massive storm.
The sinking took the lives of all 29 men on the ship, and became immortalized in Gordon Lightfoot's song.
Let's learn more about this tragedy.
